Due to the advantage of geographical location and the continuation of the past tradition, we have also conducted in-depth cooperation with the team of NWU-CHINA-A this year. From the initial meeting to the later close contacts, we have reached an unprecedented cooperation relationship not only in the experiment, but also in human practice.

First encounter

At the beginning of the project, we only had a brief online communication and expressed our cooperation intention. Later, we actively responded to the call from NWU-CHINA-A to carry out The 4th Northwest China iGEM Meetup click here to learn the details of the conference. Through face-to-face communication, we learned that NWU-China is committed to developing a new, mild and effective method to detect intestinal micro bleeding, which is very meaningful.

Human Practice Cooperation and Communication

After that, we reached a cooperation intention with NWU-CHINA-A, and then we carried out a time-space post office and a charity sale, which greatly promoted the friendship between the two universities, effectively promoted the spread and popularization of synthetic biology and iGEM.

After the Northwest Exchange Conference, we reached a cooperation intention with NWU-CHINA-A and NPU-CHINA, and then we carried out a time-space post office and a charity sale, which greatly promoted the friendship between the three universities, effectively promoted the spread and popularization of synthetic biology and iGEM competitions, and our projects also gained the opportunity to communicate with students in different professional fields in the school.

A time-space post office: The postcards made by our three schools are used as the carrier. This year, iGEMers of XJTU mainly designed two postcards with the themes of "How much do you know about synthetic biology" and "blue light induced compound functional biological fertilizer", in order to expand the influence of synthetic biology and iGEM competitions and obtain more opportunities to exchange our topics. In the end, we have collected many questions and opinions, as well as our blessings to the cooperative institutions. We will feed back all the information one by one, so as to achieve a friendly two-way exchange between teachers and students of our school, between iGEMers and non iGEMers, and between cooperative institutions.

Charity sale activity: we obtained money by selling the articles designed by ourselves and donated by the cooperative schools. The final accumulated amount was 751 yuan. In the name of the iGEM team of three schools, we donated to the "Hope Project 1+1 Student Assistance Action" of the China Youth Development Foundation. We hope that our modest efforts can help children in poor mountain areas receive better education.

Before the deadline of Wiki, we contacted NWU-CHINA-A to meet in Xi'an Jiaotong University. We summarized the previous education activities and talked about the problems encountered on the wiki page. Finally, we express our willingness to support them in modeling.

Experimental help

1. In July 2022, because their transformation experiment was not successful for many times, they contacted us for help. Through communication and analysis, they showed that the carrier they should have purchased had a quality problem. So we gave them the carrier as a gift, hoping to help them overcome the difficulties in the experiment.

2. We have accepted the proposal of NWU-CHINA-A to continue to improve the Northwest Part Library on the basis of previous years, so as to facilitate the later iGEMers or other synthetic biology researchers. You can learn more in Contubition contribution/ Northwest Parts Library.
