Our team presented BioLongan at the 7th CHINA International Internet + Competition. Here, we are able to develop a solid value proposition and sustainable business model, thanks to entrepreneurial consultants. After several meetings and modification of the simulated road show, we finally got a good result in the preliminary competition. Fig. 1. Business Profile:
The name of our business company, BioLongan is derived
from "Synthetic Biology" and
"Longan", aiming to make use of the gene editing technology of Synthetic Biology and rely on
the strong academic resources and technical support of the Institute of Horticultural Plant
Bioengineering and Fujian Fuqing Longan Science and Technology Academy. We have innovatively
established high-yield GABA Longan cell line and created a new deep-processing industry
chain where food and medicine come from the same source to fill the market gap.
At the present stage (during the epidemic), the team
reports the experimental progress
weekly strictly in accordance with the experimental plan, and has basically completed the
analysis of the bioassurance part, in order to gradually achieve the project effect.
In the first stage, our team plans to complete the
cultivation of high-GABA Longan as well
as corporate sponsorship and financing. Furthermore, the preliminary project construction in
the summer vacation of 2022 was formed. In the second stage, based on the existing GABA
Longan products, our team actively cooperate with relevant domestic and foreign biological
companies and agricultural product companies to expand the production of gene editing
Longan. At this stage, GABA Longan industry will be actively introduced to rural areas,
leading individual farmers to realize modern agriculture, and ultimately contributing to
rural revitalization. The third stage will introduce deep processing resources such as
medicine, food and medical treatment by 2025, improve the industrialization chain of deep
processing Longan, fill the gap of GABA gene editing products in China, and seize market
opportunities.

Longan GABA gene editing innovation
technology and makes its own contribution to accelerate social modernization.
Marketing strategy:
Experts guide: currently, the purpose of our project is
mainly to expand the domestic
market, guide the teachers are all in the industry have high achievement in the field of
experts and scholars, various resources and the flow of its own, help think-tank, experts in
the field of the project is set for this project drainage, enlargement popularity in the
related field.
Media platform drainage: The team will popularize
biotechnology knowledge, introduce and
publicize related products through the official account on WeChat BiolonganFAFU.
Additionally, we also open an online consultation channel on the basis of the official
account. Later, the project also plans to create Zhihu and Douyin short video accounts for
further promotion.
Participate in biotechnology and food science or related
competition: this project is
mainly achieved by biotechnology content of GABA in Longan, thus producing a series of
derivatives, such as, Longan drinks cool paste, therefore improve the project in the field
of plant biotechnology and food science visibility for marketing have great help. The
project plans to actively participate in some competitions in related fields, such as
College Students Life Science Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, Food Safety
Science Popularization Innovation Competition, etc.
Exchange views and learning from relevant enterprises
and universities: our project plans
to exchange knowledge and experience with universities and enterprises in relevant fields,
which will not only facilitate the diversion of the project, but also obtain information
effectively to accelerate the growth of our project.
Initial product production
(1) The preparation process of longan beverage
Preliminary experiments:
Objective:
To confirm the amount of citric acid, sugar and essence
additives needed to prepare Longan
beverage.
Experimental procedure: Pour the original
slurry into a
50ml centrifuge tube, centrifuge it
at 5000R for 15min and transfer the supernatant to the pot after centrifugation. Then, add
160ml drinking water to the pot and set the fire.

When the solution in the pan is about to boil, turn down
the heat and pour the solution in
the beaker into the pan, stirring as you add. Then cook on a high heat for 2-3 minutes. Let
it cool and taste it to see if the sweetness and acidity are right, to determine the amount
of citric acid and granulated sugar.
After determining the amount of citric acid and sugar,
repeat the above operation. And then
finally boil off the heat, add the right amount of essence, to be cooled after tasting,
determine whether the fragrance is appropriate, so as to determine the amount of essence.
Results of the preliminary experiment:
After repeated tasting, it is determined that the amount
of citric acid is about 0.11%, the
amount of sugar is about 1%, and the amount of essence is about 0.0002%.
Experimental procedure:
Objective: To investigate people's taste preference by
preparing four kinds of formula
drinks with different pulp and citric acid content.
Experimental procedure:
1. Pour the original longan pulp into a 50ml centrifuge tube and place it in a centrifuge at
5000R for 15min. After centrifugation, take the supernatant into a 500ml cylinder.
2. We Set A/B/C/D four recipes, respectively add the following amount of materials to the
pot and stir:

3.Add the following ingredients to a 100ml beaker, add a small amount of water and stir with a glass rod.

After dissolving, pour the solution into the pot of each
formula. When the solution in the
pot is about to boil, turn down the heat, pour the solution in the beaker into the pot, stir
while adding, and then cook on high fire for 2-3 minutes.
4. Turn off the fire after boiling, add a certain amount of essence to the pot, glass rod
appropriate stirring, juice into 300ml PP bottle with a spoon, can to about 5mm from the
mouth of the bottle, remove the air in the container with liquid, and then screw the lid to
seal. After sealing, pour the bottle for 15min, and finally put it in cold water to cool.
5. Take out the PP bottle after cooling and mark the A/B/C/D formula.

(2) Questionnaire analysis of longan beverage
To investigate the how do people like our Longan
beverage, we gave out questionnaires to
improve the formula for the better taste.
We have designed four formulations of flavored drinks.
The survey found that in Fig. 3.4
Formula C (containing 25% Longan protoplasmic, 1% sugar and 0.12% citric acid) was the most
popular, while Formula D, containing 20% Longan protoplasmic and 0.1% citric acid, was
barely liked by a few. The original pulp and citric acid content of Formula B and Formula A
beverages are between Formula D and Formula C. Questionnaires show that most people believe
that drinks with acidic taste are better, so we have increased the content of pulp and
citric acid in our beverage processing to meet the needs of more people's taste.

In the questionnaire, we also asked respondents for
suggestions to improve the taste. People
generally feel satisfied about our drinks and reckon they are superior to other drinks as
the GABA (an amino acid extracted from longan) in our drinks has a sleep-aiding and
anxiety-relieving effect. Hence, we will further improve the taste of our drinks and try to
meet the market demand so that our products can be launched and promoted as soon as
possible.
