The Synthetic Biology Club (CBSin), founded in 2014 by André Herman, is an academic organization linked to the University of São Paulo, Lorena city campus. It all started with small study groups among friends, and over time, as more students joined, the club grew into a student body.

Nowadays, CBSin is a student group whose mission is to develop and disseminate knowledge of synthetic biology in the university sphere and society. In this way, through the elaboration of projects, the entity aims to reduce barriers between academia and society.

In 2016, the club created the first team of our campus to participate in the international competition, iGEM. From that moment on, the two groups started to work together, helping each other in whatever was needed. In addition, the 2016, 2018, 2021 and 2022 teams also belonged to the Club.

Through commitment, teamwork and determination, the Club aims to become a reference for scientific dissemination and inspiration for the development of new synthetic biology nucleus in Brazil.

One of our dreams is one day being the bridge that connects Brazilian science and society!
