Our little snippet moments

Image of petri dishes containing the nanobuddies logo and name, written on agar petri dishes with fluorescing bacterial colonies! They are shown glowing under ultraviolet light

Here we collected our little different snippet moments throughout our iGEM journey and decided to create a webpage to document how we far we have come in these few months! Hover the image below to see the real us!

Every day we come to the lab, the first thing we see when we walk to our desks are the army of microbes!

One of our first days in the lab, we had lab trainings so that we were more confident and familiar with the lab procedures and protocols. Here were Jess and Jasmin making scratch plates for colony PCR.

The fuGFP-CBD team (Donovan, Jackie, and Jasmin) had some fun running SDS-PAGE gels every day in the lab, we had a motto 'another day, another gel!'.

Jackie and Donovan were preparing the SDS-PAGE gel.

The nanobody surface display team (Jess and Sylvie) spent some time looking at some plates in the dark under UV light.

We decided to do something fun on a patch plate writing some short phrases, like 'I WILL SLEEP SOON!'.

With our advisor Mark's collection of colorful bacteria, the artistic possibilities are endless! Here you can see a beautiful rendition of a coral reef on charcoal agar, and of the mythical creature allocamelus on LB.

Drawing on plates had become our leisure in the lab, guess who have we drawn? It's Nick (our supervisor)!

Vortexing has always been one of Jess's favourite activities. It never fails to bring a smile to her face.

Look at how Jess reacted to her super concentrated TOP10 E. coli culture! Looks like yakult!

During our university mid-semester break, Jasmin made some treats (cupcakes and biscuits) for the team. Yum! PLUS the gel on the side that Nick needs for mass spectrometry analysis.
