Collaboration is a great way to build a collaborative network with other teams around the world who share a common mission - solving important problems using synthetic biology.

Our team decided to take this chance to interact with other teams, so we can work together, raising the awareness about synthetic biology and our projects!

We collaborated with Cambridge University team to develop a book on their chosen topic. The book is designed for students who have taken upper-level coursework to deepen their comprehension acquired during the lectures. This way we wanted to show how synthetic biology can be employed to solve a wide range of issues the world faces today. We translated the book into our native Kazakh language as well as Russian, so that as many people as possible can gain new insights.

Global clean-up challenge:

Our team, having chosen the pollution plastic problem, decided to launch a special challenge "Global clean-up day" to encourage as many people as possible to clean up their plastic waste! We posted this challenge on our Instagram, where it got thousands of views!

Plastic Bottle challenge:

The next challenge we addressed to other teams is the “Plastic Bottle challenge”. The goal of this challenge was to encourage other team members to film a short video of themselves throwing plastic trash into special plastic bins. Teams from NU Kazakhstan, NYC Formosa, Skepsis, took part in our challenge. We also posted this challenge on our Instagram.

Our team took part in the Grand iGEM Quiz, which was held by the iGEM Cambridge team. In addition to the fact that our team met other teams and had a great time, we succeeded and won the quiz!
