Proposed Implementation
In order to achieve our product goals, we conduct a series of market research to circumvent possible problems. In addition, we interviewed industry professionals, consulted on the feasibility and prospects of our projects, and obtained relevant advice. In the end, we concluded that our projects could meet market demands while providing solutions to alleviate stress.
1. Target User
We have identified students, office workers, middle-aged people, etc. as the main target users of the project, because through interviews with the people around us, we found that these people are in serious college pressure, work pressure, family pressure, and need a product to relieve stress. Our products are designed to regulate mood and relieve stress by releasing odor molecules.
For people who have been busy for a day, they come home at night with a full body of exhaustion, and their mood is extremely low. At this time, the bracelet worn by the user himself will monitor the heart rate, the computer's camera will collect facial expressions, and the above-mentioned devices that have been connected to our product will upload data to the product and automatically run local programs. After the emotion recognition is completed, the corresponding odor molecules will be released, making the user feel happy. If the user is in a state of anger, our products can also release the corresponding odor molecules to calm the mood.
Considering that modern young people will pay more attention to aesthetics and portability, we have designed the product into a small box that is easy to carry, and the following is our 3D modeling.
2. Market demand
In order to realize our products, we conducted a series of market research to demonstrate the feasibility of the products.
1. Questionnaires
For our target users, we distributed questionnaires to friends around us and online, recovered nearly 2,000 copies, and analyzed the survey data and found that about 90% of people have different degrees of pressure on going to school, work, family and other aspects, and more than 60% of people have two or more pressures; In addition, more than 50% of people said they were interested in and willing to pay for products that regulate their emotions by releasing odors, which undoubtedly shows that our projects are the trend of the times.
When we surveyed people about the smells that would make people feel happy, many people chose the smell they liked as a child, and some people were obsessed with the smell they smelled in some happy moments, which also provided ideas for the subsequent development of our products.
2. Grasp the macro dynamics of the market
Through SWOT Analysis, we have mastered the macro dynamics of the market, and found that contemporary young people are under pressure, negative emotions, more and more people pay attention to emotional changes . In recent years, the development of facial recognition technology, machine learning, the development of the Internet, cloud computing and other factors have also provided opportunities for the realization of our project.
3. Practical application
We also interviewed Li Peizhi, manager of the spice company Olaughlinco to discuss issues such as development prospects and costs. The production of natural incense raw materials is often similar to agricultural production, and its output and harvest are often disturbed by uncertainties, so the price fluctuates greatly. We use engineered bacteria to produce spices in synthetic biology, which is more stable and less costly, and more competitive in comparison.
In addition, our advantage over traditional fragrance or aromatherapy is that our products can be used as an aroma box that can release different odors under different light regulations, with a variety of odors; In addition, it will intelligently adjust the odor according to face recognition. Finally, after talking with Manager Li, we reached a cooperation intention with Olaughlinco and planned to commercialize the product in the next few years.
4. Safety Concerns
Considering that the release of chemicals may be suspected of misuse of chemicals, or there are some indirect effects on the human body, the molecules we choose are essentially some aromatic compounds or mixtures extracted from the plant itself, which will reduce this effect to some extent.
We reviewed the thresholds for selecting odor molecules and ensured that the amount of odor molecules released did not exceed this threshold.
Because our products require facial information to identify emotions, users may be concerned about the leakage of personal information, so this information is handled with the highest security. The user is prompted for camera permissions before the program runs, and the user's personal information is only saved locally and deleted after the program runs.
When working with GMOs, the engineered bacteria involved in the project will be strictly isolated from the external laboratory environment. After the experiment is over, the bacteria will be performed using autoclave steam sterilization and dry heat sterilization, and then placed into the designated experimental waste collection point to avoid contamination of the environment by GMOs.
5. Possible Challenges
At present, the research and application of fragrance on the market is very mature, but the relationship between the regulation of human senses and treatment through individual fragrance raw materials needs to be further demonstrated, and we will conduct further experimental verification and practical research in the future to prove the role of our project in treatment.
In addition, our products are currently less well-known, but our team has official accounts in major apps such as Bilibili and Xiaohongshu, and we will further promote our projects on various platforms. We also plan to work with some bloggers with larger fan bases to expand the visibility of our projects.
