Educational Talk in Kendriya Vidyalaya by Ms. Peehu Joshi
As a part of our education initiative, on 20th August 2022, one of our team members, Ms. Peehu Joshi, had the great opportunity to present a talk on “Synthetic Biology” as a part of a one-day Educational Workshop conducted in Kendriya Vidyalaya Army Area, Pune. The Kendriya Vidyalaya is a chain of schools spread all over India and is one of the oldest organizations providing quality education to children under the Ministry of Education of India.
The talk was conducted for 11th Standard Biology students and it covered basic questions and aspects of Synthetic Biology, like-
- What is SynBio?
- What progress has been done with the help of SynBio?
- How is it effective now?
- What are the various career options for someone interested in SynBio?
The children were very thrilled and intrigued to know about Synthetic Biology and asked a lot of questions to understand the field better. At the end of the talk, there was a short quiz conducted (video attached) where the students participated quite actively! A lot of them came up to our team member, Ms. Peehu Joshi, and interacted personally to learn more about iGEM and SynBio. Our team would like to thank Mrs. Meena Joshi, Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya Army Area, Pune for allowing us to present a talk in their school and adding value to the Education aspect of our iGEM Project. We also promised to mentor their high-school team whenever they decide to become a part of the iGEM family.
