Mr. Cameron Roots
Mr. Roots is the creator of Open-Source Translation Initiation Rate (OSTIR) calculator which is based on the last open-source version of Salis Lab’s RBS Calculator. He was extremely happy to see an iGEM team using his software. We have extensively used OSTIR to make predictions in our project and so meeting its creator was really insightful to have our questions answered right from the horse's mouth. He described how we could go about making further sense of the results we have generated through OSTIR. He pointed out the limitations of the current model and explained that our experimental results could further correlate with the OSTIR predictions if we took the readings in the early phase of bacterial growth. We have incorporated taking of readings at earlier time points as well in our second engineering cycle based on his suggestions
