we are a team without any prior experience, but with help from BNSC_China (ONCE),we learned synthetic biological knowledge more easily and successfully completed our project.BNSC_China (ONCE) expounded the rules,share their experience,disscused what should an iGEM team do in HP and how could we approch our goal to solve the actual problem we faced in our project by communicate with other people and take their advice.As we are not a biological professional team,BNSC_China (ONCE) gave us great advice very much when we design the experimental line,and provided us with component help.During the experiment, ONCE helped to solve problems of technique and modeling.In return,we designed the team logo for them.We also explained artistic ideas to them, exchanged cooperation between art and synthetic biology many times, and organized offline activities to reinforce our friendship.
At the Biology Conference, a total of 7 IGEM teams participated, including CFAF, FAFU, GXU, NFLS, NJU, NPU, XJTLU, in the conference room, we each shared the team's projects, through mutual discussion to prove the safety of our experimental measures, and need to ensure that our gene-editing engineering bacteria do not cause leakage, to ensure that the project does not cause harm to the natural environment and human health. Communicate with each other about our range of capabilities and solutions. In the process of communication, we will improve and optimize the solutions of both sides, talk about the problems faced by everyone, and put forward their own suggestions for everyone from their respective perspectives. It was a very successful sharing and allowed our team to understand biosafety from more perspectives.
The Conference of China iGEMer Community (CCiC) is a national summit independently initiated by Chinese iGEM participating teams, aiming to provide a platform for participating iGEM teams to share resources and promote mutual learning and communication. The theme of the 9th CCiC Conference was "Life Meets Everything". We actively participated in the 9th CCIC conference, introduced our project and communicated with the participating teams.
IGEM Meeting up was held in May this year, with 25 iGEM teams and over200 team members from China participating. This activity enabled us to communicate with other teams at the initial stage of the project, understand their project direction and practice methods, and also laid a good foundation for our subsequent cooperation. We also listened to the lectures of Yuhan Bao, Fang Wu and other teachers at the meeting, which promoted our project determination and the subsequent human practice.
Advertising and promotion for the synthetic biology company SynMeta: We talked with the director of the synthetic biology company SynMeta and learned about some of the difficulties of the synthetic biology company to make money. So our alternative "Born on the 10th day" chose the company's clothing products as raw material to be indicated at the exhibition to promote the company's products. The founder and CEO of SynMeta, Su Rui, is a student at the University of Science and Technology in Shanghai and has participated in iGEM. SynMeta is a product design-focused synthetic biology materials company dedicated to combining synthetic biology, tissue engineering, 3D printing and other advanced technologies to create a new generation of sustainable biomaterials, protein materials and living materials with superior performance and controlled costs. Integrating living organisms and life processes into materials and leading a new material revolution with product design as the core. There are two product directions: using mycelium for clothing fabrics; using protein design for beauty and medical materials.
We exchanged and learned with Jiuzhi Technology to explore a more suitable angle of combining technology and art: Jiuzhi Technology is a model company that combines technology and art while making profits. We exchanged a series of questions about art and technology cooperation, got to know some of the current situation of the industry, and at the same time learned about a more appropriate angle of combining technology and art - one should not use art to attach to technology, but each play its own strengths, and at the same time artists should have a deeper understanding of technology.
