Diversity and Inclusion
BUCT's values are inclusive everywhere. BUCT believes that every person is unique and that no matter what differences we all have mentally and physically, each person deserves to be respected and included. More importantly, BCCU does not agree that only thick hair represents beauty, nor do we want to discuss this issue in terms of aesthetics; we go deeper to understand what each person really needs and try to solve everyone's problems. BCCU and non-scientists created this song "Hey Hair" to express that people should accept and be proud of who they are and be grateful for what they bring to the world. If you listen to this song, we are sure you can feel the strong inclusiveness of BUCT.
Because of the impact of the epidemic, education and communication at BUCT is mainly conducted through the Internet. However, the limitations of time and geography can be overcome through the Internet. We have communicated through live streaming or conference format.
In addition, we have established a WeChat public website and a WeChat mini-program to establish direct contact with patients with scalp health problems and other stakeholders to understand the wide variety of patient situations inclusively. In addition, BUCT has a health column. The health column covers scientific knowledge relevant to different ages and genders. Young people, including students, can learn about interesting synthetic biology and our projects mainly through our B-site's live stream and public website, while children and elderly people who do not use the Internet often are considered, we also have abundant offline interviews and Q&A and related practical science activities. The BUCT team advocates positive attention to one's own inner needs, and that no matter what kind of differences there are in one's body and personality, everyone is worthy of being included and we need to have a confident mental state.
In addition, to ensure that our program is inclusive and gains more acceptance, we discussed our ideas with experts from many sectors. We communicated offline and built a long-term relationship with the public. We participated in CCiC, a joint exhibition of 12 teams, and CCiC conferences to increase interaction and spread knowledge of scalp health and synthetic biology to the broader community
