Ethics Symposium with DNHS_SanDiego_CA and CCA_San_Diego

We participated in setting up an ethics symposium in partnership with DNHS_SanDiego_CA and CCA_San_Diego situated at the J. Craig Ventner Institute in La Jolla, California. In attendence, we had professors and the general public who asked us questions throughout the symposium. There, we introduced our projects, invited other researchers to share their projects and ethics behind them, and had a panel of students from all 3 schools discussing current concerns and applications of ethics in the world today.

Each teams started off by presenting their project as well as how they ensured their teams performed their research ethically over the course of the season. Then, student researchers, experienced in computational biology explained efforts being done with computational work to help bring new types of ethical research into academia. Lastly, all teams participated in a group discussion to understand what government legislations should be implemented and various ways to spread awareness to the public about the importance of conducting ethical, safe research.
