All these parts have the same function of defluorinating. Both haloacid dehalogenase (HAD) and fluoroacetate dehalogenase (FAcD) are enzymes that catalyze the cleavage of the C-F bond. In our project, the enzymes were used to cleave the C-F bonds that make PFOA extremely hard to degrade, but it can also be applied to a variety of environmental conditions and other projects where a C-F bond needs to be cleaved.
