Contribution

Our contributions include multiple 3D printed parts and documentation of LAMP troubleshooting processes. We designed and 3D printed a connector for liquid handling and mixing. We also modified a drilling tool model for oak tree sample extraction. Documentation on our design cycles in engineering these parts are documented on our wiki, including research on reference designs, the initial prototype, testing the prototype with multiple users, and modifying the prototype based on user feedback. The threads fitting and mechanism designed for the DNA extraction tool and liquid handling process were our main contributions to achieving safe, functional, intuitive products for onsite PCR experiments. Our team also documented the troubleshooting process of LAMP experiments that would be helpful to future teams who work with LAMP. For example, we document how we modified our protocol to reduce contamination. We also document our primer selection process which is often a pain point for many LAMP-based projects.
