OVERVIEW
  LZU-HS-Pro-A is formed by a group of high school students with a passion for synthetic biology. Depression is one of the most common mental illnesses, affecting more than 30 million people worldwide. It can lead to despair and even suicidal thoughts. To help relieve depression, our team developed a probiotic that modulates depression based on the gut-brain axis. Since 5-HTP has previously been shown to increase the concentration of serotonin in the brain to improve mood, and GABA to block certain nerve cells to suppress anxiety and stress, we engineered strains that could autonomously synthesize both. To prevent transgene contamination, our team developed a suicide system for this strain. This probiotic has the potential to create a more peaceful and productive society.
The Formation of LZU-HS-ProA
  LZU-HS-ProA is a diverse and strong team composed of 23 high school students who love biology and care about social development and protection, from Orange County American high school and Mercyhurst Preparatory School in the United States, Northern Secondary School in Canada to Beijing Number.2 middle school, ICC, in China. In July 2022, most of the team members gathered in Beijing participated in the experiments of gene editing designing strains at the Beijing Mathematical and Chemical Testing Center. And the team members who participated in the experiment actively kept in touch with the online team members, cooperated with each other, and completed all the projects.

  The Lanzhou University instructor team led by instructor Liu Jinrong gave the team constructive help and improved the overall experiment for us. Han Dongfu
  As a team leader, I am not only a supervisor, but also a strategist, communicator, goal-setter, and organizer. To overview the entire project, motivate the team to succeed at our goals, and give the final touches to our work is what I would do. My job is to find the right place for each team member and motivate them to their greatest potential.
Xiao Ruyun
  Ruyun (Rhymi) Xiao as a captain of dry team, director of the comprehensive human practice with the leader, with her excellent ability of organization and coordination of the division of labor, the overall planning and promote HP. Use a large number of social science knowledge reserve (Sociology, Economic, Philosophy etc.) and theoretical work for human practice,HP document writing and ornament HP. At the same time she also conducted offline laboratory work,observation,visiting investigation and a series of social practice.
Liu Yihe
  As the leader of the wet team, I participated in the experiment in the whole process, assigned tasks to the wet team members, helped the team write wiki contends, and helped the team members solve problems. Written wiki texts on security, proposed implementation, project description, contribution, etc. Represented the team to participate in CCIC meetings and other meetings and speeches, introduced the team's projects and accepted the judges' judgments. At the same time, I am also a member of the dry team, helping the team write a part of contend of the human practice.
Chen Changan
  Team leader for the sub-team of visual delivery. In charge of wiki coding & design, video shooting & editing, and social media publicity. He drafted schedule to incorporate all members, tasks, and deadlines. He followed up progress of his sub-team through daily communications, and held weekly meeting to check project status to make sure all are in track. He also participated in research and various laboratory work as a team member in the experiment group.
Yang Qihang
  As the captain of the dry team, he has shown excellent leadership. His remarkable scheduling ability and professional skills have allowed him to complete numerous dry and wet team activities. And as a key member of the wet team, he has completed the writing of many important content and essays, and he unified the use of specific nouns in many aspects of the projects, such as the project name-PDRP. He is also an indispensable member of the laboratory experiment process.
Xu Xinyang
  Taking his role as the wiki design leader, he played an active part in organizing the structures of wiki, finding ways to make servers and codings congruent, and distributing tasks equally for every one. His sense of responsibility made the progress of wiki design significant. He also worked hard in mathematic modeling, learning Matlab language in advance and made contributions to the part. Furthermore, his sense of responsibility propelled him to design ways to win Best Inclusivity and Best Education, whose plans are accepted by most team members.
Du Lehan
  Participated in the whole experiment as a wet team member, and wrote wiki of project success and proof of concept; as an visual delivery team member, participated in the production of 2-minute video animations and collected picture materials; at the same time, participated in the copywriting and multilingual projects and copywriting of the sustainable development single award.
Wang Bingkun
  Acted as one of the group leader, he actively participated in most of the lab works and explained many detailed theories to other member of the experiment. He also took a important role in sustainable development and inclusivity research of the team. Wrote and improved papers of implementation steps by steps with the wet leader Liu Yihe. The outgoing and confident personality of Eason helped him summarized the lab works in front of public during the meeting with partnership team successfully.
Cao Xiaoyu
  Taking her role as a member of the wet team, she actively participated in laboratory work. Also, as part of the wiki team, she contributed to team website design and coding and video copywriting.
Gao Changqi
  I participated in the whole biological experiment and participated in the writing of the prize paper. In this project, I also served as the person in charge of two-minute videos, painting video clips and allocating personnel.
Pan Jiajing
  Danile pan played a lot of roles in this activity, and acted as a photographer in the preparation of the game. I took many pictures in the experiment and group photos of working with other teams. At the beginning of the experiment, I studied and experimented with my teammates, and participated in a series of scripts such as wikis, individual awards, safety forms, and experimental backgrounds.
Shan Boran
  Took part in the experiment and had been a scribe. Taking notes of the laboratory, examining experimental operations, and looking for related laws about laboratory safety, the student cooperated to completed the IGEM safety form. In addition, the student also took part in human practice, did research on policies about the team’s research object.
Zhang Yujie
  Responsible for the preparation of the text of the lecture and the production of the ppt, and explained the basic situation of depression and the team's bioengineering plan. Participate in and experience the experimental process with students. He helped to complete the production of the team wiki copy, wrote the advantages and disadvantages of 5-HTP, GABA and other materials, and publicized the project content. Designed the relevant content of inclusivity about color blind and color weak people, and participated in some team modeling work.
Li Yuqi
  I'm Li Yuqi, working on the wet team, video shooting team and wiki website production team, the offline part is mainly responsible for experimental operation and video recording, the HP part of the research Benefits for disease treatment and medical benefits, the benefits of reducing depression in social psychology and mass society, the benefits of reducing the harm of depression to human beings, the individual award section responsible for writing about sustainability.

  He used his excellent searching skills to make a deep investigation in the safety laws of GMO in China and the US. He is also in charge of the literature review of the essay.

  I am a member of the dry team. I helped the human practice part of the wiki website sort out the framework, put forward many new ideas, and helped to write some words and collect pictures.
Huang Wenxinya
  Participate in the competition as a team member of LZU-HS-Pro-A. Took part in writing part of the required paperwork for cooperating with another team, mainly about showing love and care to people who are suffering from depression and obesity.
Wang Shiyao
  I was more responsible for the art team in Igem competitions. I am mainly responsible for copywriting, official account typesetting and looking for pictures. Because I usually like to read, this hobby has effectively helped me to play a role in copywriting. At the beginning, I didn't know how to publish official accounts and look for pictures, but after trying to learn from the Internet and the help of my teammates, I could use computer software to edit official accounts.
Sun Wenhao
  In this project, I participated in the analysis of the award demand of Best inclusivity. Advising on projects allows us to reach the largest audience. In addition, I participated in the writing of experimental principles in the copywriting part.
Wang Jingbo
  Kyle Wang Jingbo, member of LSU-hS-Pro-A, analyzed the previous gold award cases behind the team and shared the previous project goals, the social significance of the project, the feasibility and sustainability of the project with the team members. At the same time, he sorted out the reasons for winning the best education award in the past, and put forward the corresponding implementation measures for his team.

  Guanhong Wang assumed the role of a visual designer for the team. He made a great contribution to the visual communication of the final product with his distinctive artistic style and participated in the visual design of the team's publicity on various platforms. He has also made significant contributions to the educational and inclusive nature of the team. In addition, he used his knowledge of economics to investigate fundraising.

  I was mainly responsible for the beautification part of the Wiki website and gave constructive suggestions in the work. At the same time, I was also responsible for the task of data search in human practice and provided help for the Wiki content.
