Undergraduate Students

Janella Schwab
Janella is a 5th-year Honours Applied Animal Biology student. Having been Internal Director of UBC iGEM last year, as well as working on Human Practices and Wet-Lab the year before, and with her Peruvian team in high school, she admires the ability of iGEM to inspire confidence and creativity in young scientific innovators. Outside iGEM, she has been applying synthetic biology for developmental biology and immunology contexts in her co-ops at UBC SBME and Zymeworks. She hopes to inspire this same admiration for biological systems in others, especially those outside the scientific community.

Executive Director

Parneet Sekhon
Parneet is a 5th-year Microbiology and Immunology student, as well as Vice Director and Human Practices Lead at UBC iGEM. With this being her third year on the team, Parneet is passionate about communicating synthetic biology in an accessible way and inspiring confidence for creativity and innovation. She is intrigued by the complexity of biological systems and hopes to apply them to immuno-oncology research and disease therapeutics. Outside of research, Parneet can be found on one of the many hiking trails in BC or out on the water paddling with her dragonboat team!
