Team

Eva Paruch, Class of 2023
Major: Biochemistry and Music
Team Captain

Eva is one of the team leaders and
helped spearhead the wet lab
aspect of the project. She
contributed to everything from
project design, to protocol
collection, to experiment execution
and troubleshooting. She also
contributed to the launch of our
team’s crowdfunding campaign,
and gave great pep talks, keeping
the team motivated and helping
every member do their best work <3.

Fun Fact: She blasts jazz music
ALL the time, especially in the
lab…even if everyone else asks
her to stop.

Lori Saxena, Class of 2025
Major: Biology and Journalism
Team Captain and Outreach Leader

Lori is one of the team leaders,
was heavily involved in all aspects
of the project, and also acted as
the head of the outreach team. She
contributed most significantly to the
mathematical modeling work, and
wrote a large portion of the wiki
content.

Fun Fact: She is a die-hard Swiftie
and knows all the lyrics to every.
single. song. She also got some of
the iGEM team members to start
saying “slayyyy.”

Maulik Masaliya, Class of 2023
Major: Human Evolutionary Biology
SF9 Wet Lab Team Leader, Dry Lab Team Member

Maulik was the SF9 team leader,
and helped spearhead most of the
wet lab initiatives. He helped
design experiments, collect
protocols, troubleshoot, and
contributed heavily for both the
E.coli and SF9 work. He also
worked in MATLAB, generating
mathematical models for gene
expression, and actively worked on
launching our crowdfunding
campaign. Maulik also helped
boost the morale of the team
significantly, making the late nights
and long hours slightly more
bearable.

Fun Fact: Everyone calls him Mike,
and he loves it. [He also likes
taking long road trips to find dark
skies for stargazing and
astrophotography].

Ahmed Rehman, Class of 2023
Major: Health Science with a Health Informatics
Concentration
Wiki Team Leader, Wet Lab Team Member

Ahmed was the WIKI GUY, coding
and designing the fundamentals of
the website. He maintained the
iGEM TikTok account (collecting
fans around the world), and
flooded the team with his graphic
design ideas (some were a hit,
some were… not). He also
contributed to both E. coli
experiments.

Fun Fact: He can do a front flip
without getting a concussion (great
job?) and loves “cheffing it up” in
the kitchen.

Namrata Singh, Class of 2025
Major: Biomedical Engineering
Outreach Team Member

Nami is a member of the outreach
team, and focused on graphic
design, educational events and
initiatives, and fundraising. She
was our main point of contact with
campus clubs and community
organizations.

Fun Fact: She loves visiting art
galleries.

Ya Jing Chen, Class of 2024
Major: Biochemistry
Wet Lab and Outreach Team Member

Ya Jing was heavily involved in the
wet lab experiments, both for SF9
and E.coli, spending hours in the
lab. She was also critical to the
success and implementation of
various outreach initiatives,
including the STEM and diversity
podcasts. Ya Jing was always
ready to lend a helping hand to any
member who needed it. She also
used her college meal plan to help
feed the team…

Fun Fact: She’s obsessed with
Hunger Games simulations and
her guilty pleasure is sunscreen
(yes, sunscreen).

Divleen Singh, Class of 2025
Major: Biology with a Specialization in Neuroscience
E.coli Wet Lab Team Leader, Dry Lab Team Member

Divleen was the E.coli team leader,
working to collect and design
protocols, and helping to execute
the E.coli experiments. She also
contributed to the dry lab portion of
the project, modeling some of the
known genetic mutations in protein S.

Fun Fact: She loves to cook and
bake!

Maira Riaz, Class of 2024
Major: Biochemistry
E. coli Wet Lab Member

Maira primarily contributed to the
E. Coli section of the wet lab,
specifically on constructing the LIC
vector and transformation of cells.
She also aided in outreach events,
and helped with fundraising.

Fun Fact: She has done a miniprep
twelve times during this project.

Ziyin Zhang, Class of 2024
Major: Biology
Outreach Team Member

Ziyin helped with outreach
initiatives, reaching out to other
teams, and being actively involved
in various collaborations. She also
helped translate a variety of our
materials into other languages, and
helped translate content for other
teams as well.

Fun Fact: She loves anime and
games.

Isam Adnan, Class of 2024
Major: Biology
Team Member

Isam helped assist in coding some
parts of the wiki, and was involved in and contributed to numerous wet lab experiments involving E. coli. He also helped
with collaborations and outreach
initiatives, and did research for the
team’s supporting
entrepreneurship.

Fun Fact: He tricked the whole
team into thinking his eyes were
blue.
