I go by the name Matthew and I am a rising junior. My academic passion is biology and related studies, therefore iGEM is a great opportunity for me to pursue and demonstrate that passion. In my leisure time, I play sports such as basketball, or simply read books such as The Godfather. Besides that, music is also something that interests me, it serves as a tool that helps me concentrate when doing work. I enjoy all music genres from a variety of languages such as Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, etc.

Hi! For whoever is seeing this, my name is Helen, and I am the leader for Dry Team mostly due to the lack of dry team members. I have been deeply interested in Sociology and Psychology since 9th grade and joined numerous related programs and competitions. Therefore I want to contribute my skills into the dry team, while combining them with our amazing synthetic biotechnology, and collaborate with my peers. In my leisure time, I enjoy watching movies, doing photography, sketching, and listening to music.

Hi, I am Eunice, an upcoming junior student. I am interested in science, especially biology and chemistry. Meanwhile, I am also a big sport lover, and I participate in sports like swimming and skiing. Science has been a big part of our society, including medicine, technology, and environment. It has been intriguing for me to see how much biology has contributed and I am really looking forward for new applications in real life.

I'm HSU CHI-JEN Angelica and I'm a rising senior at SHSID. I was usually defined as a well-rounded-art-student but instead, I prefer being an environmental science student. I especially enjoy learning sustainability-related topics in environmental science. My interests are broad. I'm a Solomon learner and gold-level tarot reader from World Divination Association. I'm also a ballerina in professional level and I would like to try contemporary and Kpop dances these years. I also enjoy drawing and painting (at night, so that’s the reason why I could have hundreds of interests in my leisure time).

Hi, my name is Chloe and I am a 17-year-old rising senior at SHSID. I enjoy natural science courses such as Biology and Chemistry, and would like to pursue further studies mainly in the field of Biology, which has been a subject of my interest since ninth grade. Therefore, I have taken part in various Biology-related competitions and clubs. Outside of school, I enjoy dancing, watching movies and listening to music in my spare time, and I also used to participate in team sports such as volleyball.

If you want me to tell the truth, I enjoy buying stuff. Well, the two things I like the most is Rock N’ Roll and pink and the two things I hate is coriander and math. And yeh, I also have a wide range of hobbies and interests, including tennis, piano, water-painting, chess and horse-riding. I also would like to use the word “solved paradox” to describe myself. I am sentimental but I have stable emotions. I don’t like myself but I also love who I am. My favourite book is fight club but I like to consume things. I’m one of the billions of stars in the universe but I shine. I’m a conflicted contradiction but I accept my self and love who I truly am.

My name is Yulanda, and I am a rising senior at SHSID. Subjects that I find myself attracted to include Biology and Environmental Science, and most of my activities are centered around these respective courses. Participating in iGEM gave me the opportunity to take part in research as well as gain laboratory experience, which I am certain would be put to good use in the future. Extracurricular activities that I take part in include piano and dancing, both which I have picked up at a young age. In my free time, I also enjoy listening to different genres of musics as well as spending quality time with my friends and family.

I am Jasper, an ordinary yet exceptional student just like almost every other teenager I know. Though not the best of things, I am constantly a try hard in the aspect of pursuing my dreams. As my interest in the fields of study such as computer programming and biology has been sparked by museum visits and the interesting guiding courses, it soon became a fire of passion for me to imagine being a biologist slash programmer, or even better, both. The future is blurry, yet I would believe that as I step forward in the journey full of blessings, the fire would eventually dispel the looming mist.

Hi, my name is Yiwi and I am a rising sophomore at SHSID who has a great passion in biology just as almost all of everyone else here does. Participating in iGEM not only enhanced my own knowledge on biology and various laboratory operations, it also helped me to explore into a more detailed branch of biology--genetic engineering--as well as meeting new friends of similar interests. Outside of academics, I really enjoy dancing and watching movies.

Hello, this is Katrina. I was drawn to this competition because of its application of biotechnology, but I was more excited when I discovered that it also involves sociology—since I have interest in both biology and psychology. Despite the biotech part, which I had some experiences in the past, I learned a lot more about the social factors on product creation and promotion, along with some education skills. During my spare time I’m very interested in literature (especially novels and poems), movies, and music, while I also like riding along the riverside (when the weather is chiller, it’s so awfully hot this summer!).

My name is Kingwun Lau, and I also go by Louis. I am a 16-year-old student transferring from Shanghai High School International Division to West Island School in Hong Kong. I am enthusiastic and participated in many sports varsity teams and school clubs, such as the soccer varsity team, table tennis varsity team, bio Olympia club, and chemistry club. I joined the iGEM competition because I am very passionate about biomolecular engineering and chemistry, and my dream is to become a scientist in these related fields. Hi, my name is Sophie Li, and I am a rising junior in Shanghai High School International division. I am currently 16 years old, and interested in studying chemistry and biology. I am enthusiastic about science, human anatomy and medicine in particular, and like to participate in related events such as different competitions. I enjoy reading, watching movies, and listening to music in my free time.

I am Amy, and I am very interested in biology and psychology, participating in multiple relevant clubs and competitions in the past. In this competition, I am enthusiastic to see biology being applied to real-world through our program. Utilizing academic knowledge to shape the world and transform it into a better place is my dream, and I would love to see aspects of it coming true in this program in collaboration with my peers. In my leisure time, I like painting, listening to music and reading.
