Sustainable

We emphasize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on subjects of “industry, innovation and infrastructure” and “education” related to “scientific and technology”, “educational institutions” and “business and industry” in particular.

E. coli is highly used in various basic scientific research, clinical drug screening tests, and antibody susceptibility tests. Our advanced fundamental tools empower the past methods of monitoring E. coli growth status like OD600, using a real-time detection system through an interactive mobile application without any technical difficulties.

Bringing the benefits of rapid and accurate remote tracking, time and manpower are also saved. Researchers and scientists can take advantage of wifi and our project and analyze data at any time, anywhere, with anyone all over the world. Furthermore, when used in the biomanufacturing industry to produce products such as proteins, drugs, vaccines, and antibody fragments, yield and efficiency are also enhanced when detecting induction time points. We envision scientific communication and valuable breakthroughs to distill faster, and more accurate production lines gaining higher yields than ever on a global scale with E.color. All these will in turn substantially contribute to poverty alleviation, education inequality, and a step closer to the transition towards low-carbon and green economies.

Our project, E. color, meets four of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

GOAL 9: INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE

The aim of our project is to enhance the working environments of microbiological researchers and apply in recombinant protein production of the biomanufacturing industry by providing a real-time detection device for monitoring certain growth statuses. E. color is a foundational advance that serves as a time-saving, convenient tool that has the advantages of low cost and low technical threshold. Low cost helps increase the accessibility of our product to a broader population. Our project enhances scientific research in multiple aspects and upgrades the technological capabilities of industrial sectors in all countries, in particular developing countries.

GOAL 4: QUALITY EDUCATION

Our project offers an educational tool for students and any people who would like to approach the field of bacterial microorganism. By designing different educational programs and holding many symposiums and forums related to synthetic biology, we enhanced the interest and knowledge of a wide audience, including high school and undergraduate students. We take good use of the Internet and social media to deliver educational posts as well as a Podcast series.
