Integrated Human Practice

HP Event Communication

Our team participated in IGEM human practice workshop. During the meeting, we communicated a lot with other teams. IGEM human practice committee member, Biodesigner and researcher Yuning Chen raised some questions about potential users and potential stakeholders in human practice, and clearly explained this concept to us. This includes potential users in our solutions, their ages, what types of people they are, what kind of value we can provide them, when we can provide them with potential value, and what groups they belong to. Then, another perspective is how we can provide value to potential stakeholders in the ecosystem of our team's solutions, And we had in-depth exchanges on a series of issues such as how to contact them or their relationship.

Stakeholder comments

We interviewed 5 bartenders in LZU-HS-Chin-B, one from offline, and the other four from online. Each bartender has a different answer and explains the reason in detail for us.

The first bartender was a local bartender in Shanghai, a liquor salesman. His reply to us was as follows: his drinking frequency was once every two days. He knew that excessive drinking would damage health, but the concept of excessive drinking was different for everyone, so it was difficult to identify excessive drinking. The bartender did not feel unwell after taking the job, and his family did not have any concerns about his job. Later, we asked him if he was willing to buy some health care products and whether he had bought them. The bartender replied that although he had bought them, he did not eat them. He preferred to eat some natural foods and rarely ate synthetic health care products. Finally, we asked his customers. The bartender said that his customer service crowd was mainly male between the ages of 30 and 60, but now the number of female customers is also rising. He also knew that his customers were unhealthy, mainly because of excessive drinking and alcohol allergy, so he suggested that these customers stop drinking. In addition, we also learned that the company will not buy insurance for this occupation.

The second bartender interviewed drank no less than 10 drinks every day. He said that excessive drinking would certainly harm health, but moderate drinking was beneficial to health. The reason why he works as a bartender is that he likes drinking and cannot do anything else. According to him, there are about 500w bartenders in China. The bartender did not buy any health products.

The third bartender interviewed drank three to four times a week on average, about one-third of a bottle of wine or beer each time. The bartender also knew that it was harmful to his health. He has no physical discomfort after engaging in this industry. He is a "half industry person". On the contrary, after contacting and learning the wine culture, he knows more about how to drink, and will enjoy the wine tasting moment, rather than pouring wine, and will cherish his body more. Because he has the habit of keeping exercise at ordinary times, generally speaking, his living habits are relatively healthy. The reason why he doesn't change his job is that he likes it, so he doesn't change it. He is an We Media worker. His job is flexible, and he doesn't completely depend on the liquor industry to survive.

The fourth bartender interviewed did not know the address population engaged in the wine industry in China. He was willing to buy health care products, but at present, there is little need for special liver care products. However, comprehensive vitamin health care products have been eaten for the past two years. With the growth of age, he will consider liver care products.

The fifth bartender drinks 1-2 times a year, and the frequency of drinking in the studio is about 1-2ml. The bartender knew that it was harmful to his health and he felt unwell after he engaged in this industry. The reason why he didn't change his job was because he liked it before, but now he is planning to leave because of the epidemic. He also did not know the general population of his country engaged in the wine industry, nor was he willing to buy health care products.

In order to collect more information, we made an online survey questionnaire. We learned that wine tasters have more liver and gastrointestinal related diseases. We also pay great attention to the safety of people who fill in the questionnaire. The questionnaire is completely anonymous, and there is no sensitive information such as name, gender, and address.

Communication with Professor Xu

We started with the idea of just sticking to the degradation system, so there was always no way to get a good solution. But then we contacted a professor from the School of Life Science and Technology of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Professor Xu. We had an in-depth discussion with him about our experimental ideas. After Professor Xu's advice, we found that we could start with the acceleration system.

Offline publicity

We want to popularize our project to more people, so we present the biological principle of alcohol degradation in the form of cartoon, which is more vivid and understandable. We design alcohol into cartoon shape to vividly show that how it is transformed due to the action of enzymes. In order to attract people's attention, we will also design bright colors.

After a week of offline activities in Shanghai, we carried out publicity in Shanghai, Nanjing and Harbin respectively. We distribute brochures to adults in hospitals and communities, and cartoons to unprofessional people with a certain biological basis, such as junior high school students and the elderly.

Online publicity

With the development of science and technology, the network has become more and more developed. We believe that publicity on the Internet is more effective and broader. Therefore, we have established a public account on WeChat; In ticketock, Instagram and Douyin (ticketock in China), there are accounts of our team. From time to time, we will synchronize our work on these We Media accounts and publicize the knowledge of synthetic biology and iGEM competitions.

1.July 28 is World Hepatitis Day, and alcohol is one of the main causes of inducing hepatitis, which is related to the research of our LZU-HS-CHINA-B team. Therefore, we made a poster to publicize the damage of alcoholic hepatitis and remind others to pay attention to prevention. We uploaded this poster to various social software accounts, and many people also paid attention to it.

2.In order to promote the iGEM competition, we contacted project summaries and logos of many teams and uploaded them to social software. We hope to tell you about the diversity covered by synthetic biology. We also want to let more people know about this competition and become an iGEMer.

3.After our investigation, we found that the profession led by wine tasters did cause serious harm to the body. Moreover, this injury is inevitable, and it cannot be improved by our team's propaganda. Therefore, we decided to send a proposal to the China Labor Commission in the name of an iGEM team.
