I am Kartikey, a biotech senior. I never thought playing with organisms could ever be soamusing until I found Synthetic Biology. iGEM has blessed me with a community of enthusiastic researchers, analysts, designers, and people from different walks of life making the opportunity to learn - endless. My role, as a member of the Research and Operations team, allows me to share our team’s vision and beliefs with intellects and common people. It is thus a great place to embark on my journey! Apart from doing science, I love to travel, binge on TV shows, read books and play tennis!

I am a research enthusiast and love reading papers and formulating hypotheses that can be tested out in the lab. I am very passionate about the use of synthetic biology and biotechnology in healthcare. iGEM provided me with the perfect opportunity to deep dive into pertinent problems and test out the solutions in the lab which now feels like my second home!

I’m Khyati, a sophomore in the biosciences and bioengineering department. I have worked with the wet lab and human practices for our iGEM project. Since grade 10, biology has always been appealing to me in the ways it intricately debunks what makes everything living the way it is. In college, coming across the field of synthetic biology has been an eye opening experience for me. In human practices we used all this knowledge to spread word and raise awareness about the problem statement of our project, conducting webinars and seminars on why it is so important to increase conversations about such problems in public spaces along with how we can work hand in hand with the existing methods to help solve this issue. This experience at iGEM has given me a feeling of hopefulness and power to change the future and impact many lives.

I'm Prateek Prakash Jha, Sophomore at BSBE department. I am a Tech Enthusiast and also very much interested in biology. My work in iGEM is in Dry Lab where we devise algorithms using the extensive scope of Machine Learning and Deep Learning on biological systems to computationally model the situations and outputs of laboratory experiments. While working on this interdisciplinary field, I have acquired a diverse skill set which has been an enriching experience. I am extremely lucky to be part of this fascinating project and marvelous journey.

I'm Shreyash, a sophomore at the Biosciences and Bioengineering department. Biology has always been my first love. From enjoying drawing diagrams of heart and cells in my high school days to learning about ground-breaking biotechnological advancements, biology and I have been inseparable. I am a part of the research and wet lab team. Most of the time you will find my nose buried in a huge pile of research papers, trying to find ways to tweak the lab protocols, setting up reactions, and other cool science stuff (such as autoclaving pipette tips :') ). iGEM has been an incredible adventure so far. Every minute spent on our project has been out of pure passion and love for the subject. Finding ways to solve problems using a combination of biology and engineering is what makes iGEM so special for me. Apart from the lab work, I also love reading novels, travelling with no plan, and annoying my teammates.

A 2y in BSBE, I’ve wasted 20 years running from one new fascination to another. A pretentious ex-nihilist, Biology is the only real way left for me to understand life. The sort of person that doesn’t stop opening tabs during research until their pc overheats. A very inconvenient obsession with detail and being right. Passionate about sustainability and systemic problems because it’s easier to fix the world than it is to fix yourself. I used these fatal design flaws in my being to contribute to Crisprly’s Wet Lab and Human Practices team, with genuine faith in its ability to make the lives of disadvantaged minorities a little better.

A biology enthusiast since high school, I never saw it coming on learning about iGEM that I would turn up with an amazing team of bio geeks and tech enthusiasts. No reasons to justify why I shouldn't be excited about our 2022 iGEM project, which apart from countless team meets and brain-storming sessions, has also been a good excuse for getting chapos(treats)! Besides being a core team member, I worked on the HP section to spread awareness about HPV infection in Indian women and conducted sessions with field experts and doctors. A great learning experience indeed!

Harsh Chauhan is an associate professor at the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering at IIT Roorkee. Prof. Chauhan has been working in the area of Plant Molecular Biology, Functional Genomics and Genome Editing, Response to Biotic and Abiotic Stresses, Transgenic Crops and Nutrigenomics. He teaches Gene Regulation, Genomics and Proteomics, Recombinant DNA Technology and Plant Biotechnology to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students. He is associated with the iGEM team as a faculty advisor. He loves to work with young and budding researchers and is happy to share his knowledge and experience for the iGEM project on Crisprly.
