Sustainable Development Goals

Transforming the world requires patience, effort, and time. Especially when it comes to promoting equality, peace, harmony, and care for the environment, the United Nations (UN) has framed 17 sustainable development goals. The ultimate target to achieve all of these 17 goals is the year 2030.
We have been conscientious about ways in which our project benefits the world and remained cognizant of what key areas of global importance it addresses.

Good health and well being

Third from the current list of SDGs, Good Health and Well Being is what our project checks right away. Cervical Cancer is the second most common cancer in women worldwide and the existing detection methods lack sensitivity and specificity or require invasive sample collection and expensive machinery. Our kit plays a key role in the detection of the HPV using a simple and rapid method to take appropriate therapeutic action against cervical cancer, particularly in areas where specialized equipment is unavailable.

Quality Education

Quality Education is another key aspect of our project where we have held presentations and awareness sessions for high school students, organised workshops, published a journal in collaboration with other iGEM teams, published an article in a local Indian newspaper, and reached out to women in rural villages educating them about Cervical cancer and the importance of early detection.
