Summary

The laboratory is an important place for us to explore the practice, where we learn our knowledge and improve our hands-on abilities, but also remember experimental safety knowledge, raise safety awareness, and prevent accidents.

Personal habits

1. Wear masks and experimental gloves in the laboratory. Spray a large amount of alcohol for sterilization and replace gloves in time when contacting dangerous chemicals and pathogenic bacteria.
2. Reagents and test drugs are stored in the refrigerator, and the items in the laboratory cannot be eaten.

3. -80 ℃ refrigerators store experimental bacteria, liquid nitrogen, dry ice and other items. If you search for items in them for a long time, you need to wear thick gloves to prevent frostbite.
4. Do not touch the high-pressure sterilizer, dangerous chemical storage cabinet and other equipment with certain use risks at will, or have the instructor present. Make an appointment for the experiment before using the equipment.
5. Before using the super clean table and biosafety cabinet, the equipment to be used should be put into it and sterilized with ultraviolet light. Before and after the experiment, the instruments that need to be taken into it and the hands should be disinfected with 75% alcohol, and the instruments inside should not be taken out.
6. When using the super clean table, it is necessary to light the alcohol lamp. The alcohol lamp cannot be lit in the biosafety cabinet, because there is a filter membrane on the upper layer of the biosafety cabinet, and the alcohol lamp will disturb the air flow and destroy the filter membrane at the same time.
7. The super clean table can only be used for the experiment of common bacteria, and the biological safety cabinet is required for the pathogenic bacteria experiment.

8. Mark the experimental samples and equipment, both on the cover and on the bottle body, so as to avoid confusion after removing the cover and prevent confusion or pollution.
9. Before and after using public equipment, clean the equipment with purified water, and put it back in place after use, so as to facilitate the next search and use.
10. Keep hands dry when using electrical equipment. When hands, feet or body are wet or standing on the wet floor, do not start the power switch or touch the energized electrical facilities.

11. The waste liquid should be poured into a special recycling container, the liquid level should not exceed 2/3 of the container, and a special label for chemical waste should be affixed to ensure that the container is closed, not damaged and not leaked. Disposable equipment is put into special garbage cans after use to prevent pollution.
12. Pay attention to laboratory safety: biological safety: pathogenic bacteria, viruses, etc.; chemical safety: dangerous reagents used, such as hydrochloric acid, sodium dodecyl sulfate, polyacrylamide gel; instrument safety: such as autoclave, etc.

13. The centrifuge must be balanced before use. Put the centrifuge tube with the same quality in a relative position, and listen to the noise after starting the centrifuge. If there is too much noise, the centrifuge needs to be stopped urgently and balanced again.
14. When carrying out high-temperature and high-pressure sterilization on the bottle containing reagent, it is necessary to slightly unscrew the bottle cap, and at the same time, the liquid level in the bottle should not be too high.

15. Do not touch the test table at will, especially the electrophoresis test table, which may be stained with toxic reagents and other harmful substances.
16. Don't touch the face and other body parts after wearing gloves, and don't take the mobile phone directly.
17. The laboratory shall pay attention to the principle of pollution prevention, clean the test bench after the experiment, and wash hands with hand sanitizer when leaving the laboratory.

Laboratory waste disposal regulations

1. Wear masks and experimental gloves in the laboratory, spray a large amount of alcohol to sterilize and replace the gloves in time when exposed to dangerous chemicals and pathogenic bacteria. The gloves should be thrown in designated dumpster.
2. The wasted liquid should be poured into a special recycling container. The liquid level shall not exceed 2/3 of the container, and a special label for chemical waste should be affixed to ensure that the container is sealed, not damaged and not leaked. Disposable equipment should be thrown into a special trash can after used to prevent contamination.
3.Paying attention to the principle of anti-pollution in the laboratory. after the experiment, you should tidy up the test bench and wash hands with hand sanitizer when leaving the laboratory.

Biosafety practices and possible safety risk control

1. Biosafety of pathogenic bacteria, viruses and other biosecurity. Be careful with dangerous reagents such as hydrochloric acid, sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel chemical safety, such as autoclaving pot and other instruments safety.
2. According to the laboratory SAFETY manual, known and potential hazards are defined and special operating procedures are specified to avoid or minimize the corresponding hazards.
3.Appropriate gloves should be worn when performing operations that involve direct or accidental contact with blood, body fluids and other potentially infectious substances or infected animals. Gloves should be disinfected before they are taken off, and hands must be washed afterwards.

4.Open-toed shoes are not allowed in the lab.
5.Food and beverages are prohibited in the laboratory work area.
6.Laboratory clothes should not be placed in the same cabinet as daily clothes.
7.Do not put laboratory equipment in your mouth.
8.Do not drink, eat, smoke, wear makeup and handle contact lenses in the laboratory working area.
9.Spills, accidents, and possible exposure to infectious substances must be reported to the laboratory supervisor. The laboratory should maintain written reports of these events.
10.Depending on the risk assessment of microbial factors for contaminated liquid handling, a sewage treatment system may need to be prepared.

COVID-19 prevention regulations

1.All members should pay close attention to the health of themselves and their family members, if they have a history of close contact or cough or hair heat and other symptoms, voluntarily inform, do not enter the office, laboratory.
2.Before entering the laboratory, one should wear a disposable medical surgical mask and disposable gloves on the basis of the prescribed clothing (shoe covers, coat, hat), and disinfect the exposed parts except the head with 75% alcohol.
During the epidemic period, members are forbidden to lead any foreign staff, such as teachers and students, into the laboratory to visit. In case of special circumstances, they need to apply to the laboratory administrator in advance, and decide whether to allow foreign staff to enter the laboratory according to the situation.
