Overview
When we meet problems ,which are relevant with our project, we will need to cooperate with many
people to improve our project. We had a two-way communication on the feasibility of the project with
the Worldshaper-HZ, laying the foundation for our next experiment and publicity. With the help of
the seniors from SCUT, we improved our modeling. Meanwhile, its our honor to invite them to our
school for joint publicity, and we achieved good results. We also cooperated with authorities to
make comic book for children aged 6-12 to spread them the introduction of food safety. These
activities improve the degree of project completion, but also draw on the excellent experience of
many outstanding teams.
1 Cohost of public propaganda event with seven other iGEM teams
In order to better promote our projects and synthetic biology, We held an online publicity activity
with the theme of “Synthetic biology in Life” with IvyMaker China, Worldshaper-HZ,
Worldshaper-HZBIOX, Worldshaper-Shanghai, Worldshaper-Nanjing, Worldshaper-NJBIOX. Our propaganda
event was held online open to the public on July10th, 2022. This activity is mainly divided into
five parts: introduction to synthetic biology, the application of synthetic biology in environmental
protection, disease diagnosis, disease treatment and food safety testing. Our team is responsible
for the food safety inspection part. We describe the three main goals we are trying to achieve in
the process of developing products for bacterial pathogen detection: linking each strain with a
specific RBPs, coupling nanomagnetic beads to the RBPs, and ensuring the storage security of samples
that may contain bacteria. During this activity, we experienced the application prospect of
synthetic biology in food safety detection. Through this joint publicity activity, we not only
successfully publicized our project to the public, but also fortunately found Worldshaper-HZ with
similar subject contents-cell-free system for subsequent cooperation and communication

activity was over.
2 Communication with Worldshaper-HZ on cell-free system
As we found in the seven-team joint public announcement, we have the same experimental theory with
Worldshaper-HZ, which is cell-free system. Therefore, our two teams communicated with each other
through social media; we introduced principles of the projects respectively and communicated with
each other on the feasibility of using other method to solve our own project. In the final analysis
of experimental results, our team adopted fluorescent image to obtain concentration and the design
about the app, Worldshaper - HZ in the final experimental results also need to adopt fluorescent
image analysis to obtain the final experiment. Our team decided to share our experience with them to
help with the analyzation of final results and refine their respective projects. In the process of
communication, we built more friendships and shared the resonance of the tense life of high school
students in iGEM competition. In the process of communication, our software has given a lot of
inspiration to the students of Worldshaper-HZ, which may be used as a part of their future
application. Their hardware design also gave us a lot of inspiration.

3 Be mentored by 2022iGEM team SCUT-China
Our project experiment was mentored by Professor Wang from East China University of Science and
Technology. With great honor, we reached a patnership with the SCUT China team. As high school
students, we lack comprehensive understanding of professional knowledge, experimental technology and
competition experiences. Therefore, during this season, we had frequent exchanges with SCUT - China,
they provided us with a lot of academic suggestions and supports, such as guidance in modeling,
joint campus publicity activities and so on.
- Kick- off meeting
-
We successfully met offline for the first time in South China University of Technology. In
the discussion meeting, we communicated with each other's projects, and SCUT gave us
specific suggestions on mathematical modeling, hardware devices, experiments and other
aspects. In the discussion, we focused on the experimental content and thought about how to
improve the experimental design scheme of our team. In addition, through this face-to-face
communication, we deepened our cooperative relationship with SCUT.

- Public activity in Guangya High Schoo
-
We held an activity in Guangya High School on September 16th to introduce our topic to our
schoolmates and teachers.
We started the preparation process for this activity since July 2022. There are 5 different
sub-activities in the event including: the introduction of the topic of SCUT-iGEM, the
introduction of the topic of Worldshaper-GYHS-iGEM, Q&A of Synthetic Biology, (plant
rubbing) and the matching game of bacteriophage. In this event, we are mainly responsible
for publicity and providing venues, gifts. In the activity, we gave a general plan and
prepared an activity to understand different bacteriophages and the SCUT is responsible for
plant rubbing and knowledge Q&A. All activities are welcomed by the students in Guangya and
the whole process took us about 1.5 hours. Both teams played the Promotion Video at the time
to show the details of every step during the experiment. Pictures about plant rubbing

- Mathematical modeling
-
Our team is relatively unfamiliar with the mathematical modeling module, so we invited the
teacher to help us explain the specific mathematical modeling knowledge points such as Gauss
process. Fortunately, we also successfully invited the seniors of SCUT-iGEM to help us sort
out the modeling framework of our project in this course discussion. During the course
explanation, students from South China University of Technology also raised questions to the
teacher about the premise that "experimental data conform to Gaussian process" and expressed
their views on this knowledge point. In order to improve our mathematical modeling ability,
we actively communicated with teachers and members of SCUT-iGEM. Through the course
communication, SCUT-iGEM put forward many constructive suggestions on the mathematical
modeling of our team, and the teacher also inspired SCUT-iGEM's new ideas on mathematical
modeling. We hope it will be helpful to them in the future. After the course, we also held
several meetings, discussed two different methods, and finally decided to use the
statistical method to do our next research.

4 Collaboration of comics book drawing
During the process of introducing our project on Instagram, we cooperated with igemtecchih, to make a
short comics book for ages 6-12 children in elemental/middle school. After accepting the invitation,
all our members began brainstorming about how to convey our project more readable to children with
no biological knowledge reserve. Finally, after consulting with the teacher, we first briefly
introduced the conceptual problem of bacteriophage in the comic book, and then roughly described the
whole experiment process with stick figures to attract children’ interests and hopefully we helped
them developing a strong interest in biology. In addition, it helps us to share data with other IGEM
teams, facilitating our understanding of each team's topics and promoting our team's projects.
