Overview
Since iGEM is a natural test-bed for new ideas and approaches in synthetic biology. As parts of
iGEMers, we not only communicate with the public to obtain information but also willing to promote
useful knowledge to them. Our team GYHS, use social media, short comics book, online meeting, and
pleasant activity in school to promote our program to people.
Social Media
In order to promote our project to more people around the world, we created an account on Instagram
to show our progress and introduce some basic ideas of our project. Many personal accounts and team
accounts had followed us to learn about our project and even contact us for cooperation. Through our
social media accounts, we also got an official invitation to make a cartoon brochure to help expand
the audience of our project. On Weibo, we will publish the interesting stories during our laboratory
and the daily development of related offline activities. Weibo account have 2083 views for our daily
process in the lab. Images below are our Instagram account, Weibo account, and the information about
the cooperation.
During the process of introducing our project from ins, we have a cooperation with igemtecchih, make
a short comics book for ages 6-12 children in elemental/middle school. After accepting the
invitation, all our members began brainstorming about how to convey our project more easily to
children with weak biological knowledge reserve. Finally, after discussion with the teacher, we
first briefly introduced the conceptual problem of bacteriophage in the comic book, and then roughly
described the whole experiment process with stick figures to help children develop a strong interest
in biology.In addition, it will share all data with each IGEM team, facilitating our understanding
of each team's topics and promoting our team's projects.

Online meeting
Due to the restriction of COVID-19, we hold an online meeting on July.10th with other iGEM group
including IvyMaker-China,Worldshaper-HZ,Worldshaper-HZBIOX, Worldshaper-Nanjing, Worldshaper-NJBIOX,
andWorldshaper-Shanghai. We promote our project to Volkswagen and WeChat video account platform
user.
The joint announcement aims to promote research in different areas of synthetic biology. In order to
understand each team's project, expand the influence of each team's project, learn from experience
and improve their own project. Through joint publicity, our team presented to the public the
research background and enlightenment of synthetic biology in food safety, as well as the harm of
foodborne pathogens. The fusion expression process of phage tail filament protein and GFP was also
introduced. The research value and advantages of our research were compared with the existing
detection methods of food-borne pathogenic bacteria on the market.Through this publicity activity,
the influence of our project has been expanded, and the cooperation invitation of Worldshaper-HZ,
which also researches cell-free system, has been obtained.
Pleasant activity in school
On September.16th , we held a pleasant activity in Guangdong Guangya High School with Team
SCUT-China. Before the activity, we went to every classes to have a brief introduction about our
project and show our welcomed of having them to join the activity. We set up five booths for
synthetic biology knowledge Q&A, Guangya team project publicity and Q&A, Scut-China team project
publicity and Q&A, and Plant-rubbing game.
During the activity, over 150 students join the games actively, which shows their curious and
interest in Biology. To help them understand more about it by playing PV video, mini workshop of
explain the relevant knowledge about our projects, Biology cards Q&A Quiz game and Plant-rubbing
game. Even though they are no familiar with the topic of synthetic biology, they are willing to ask
questions and try to have a better understanding about our project. The activity in Guangdong
Guangya High School is a great succeed, we not only promote our project, but also, as a iGEMer, help
them to develop their skills and getting interested in Biology region.
