Sustainable
Development Goals
As
we have discussed, climate change is a rising and alarming threat to humanity, and we need
to start working to combat this global crisis. Sustainable development goals, also
referred to as global goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the
planet and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. There are 17 of these
goals, and goal 13, which we are working towards, focuses on actions to combat climate
change and its effects, and our project focuses on this goal. Greenhouse gas emission is the
driving force of this global phenomenon, and our project targets transportation as the gas
used by cars and vehicles contributes to increased CO2. With our co-culture system, we will
grow algae in vast amounts to produce lipids and, thr ough photosynthesis, reduce CO2 in the
atmosphere. We will then use these lipids to produce bio diesel hence replacing the
current gas, which releases a lot of CO2 into the environment.
