Safety
In the preparation, we received general laboratory safety training from Bio+ Institute of Education. All laboratory works were in accordance with the safety requirements.
General rules
- 1. Instruments and equipment and all kinds of articles in the laboratory shall not be taken out of the outside without permission. If the equipment is damaged or lost, it should be reported to the teacher immediately. If there is any concealment, the compensation shall be doubled once found out.
- 2. Strictly abide by the experimental discipline, do not make loud noise, chase, and do not use instruments and drugs unrelated to this experiment.
- 3. Respect others 'intellectual property rights and work achievements, shall not review and remake other people's experimental records and experimental materials without permission, and shall not operate other people's experimental materials or instruments and equipment in use.
- 4. Diet, smoking, cleaning of hidden glasses and makeup are strictly prohibited in the laboratory.
- 5. After the experiment is completed, the instruments must be counted, put in order, and cleaned before leaving the laboratory.
- 6. Before leaving the laboratory, close the doors and Windows, and put the waste paper and other debris generated during the experiment into the laboratory dustbin or take it away.
Personal Security Protections
- 1. Leave the laboratory with the clothes and leave it in the laboratory. Do not enter public places by wearing the laboratory clothes.
- 2. Disposable gloves should be worn when the hands may come into contact with infected materials, contaminated surfaces or equipment. Gloves can be removed only after the work is completely finished. During wearing gloves during and after completing the experiment, the gloves shall not contact the exposed skin of yourself or others, and water cups, mobile phones and other non-experimental supplies. Do not leave the laboratory with gloves or touch public areas that others may touch, such as door handles, elevator buttons, etc. Disposable gloves should be discarded in time after removal, and shall not be reused after cleaning.
- 3. Wear goggles when splashing liquid or other splashes may be involved during the experiment.
- 4. When toxic and harmful gases or volatile liquids are involved in the experiment, they should be operated in the ventilation cabinet.
Facility Security
- 1. Take good care of all kinds of instruments and equipment in the laboratory, and shall not abuse or damage them. The damage to the instruments and equipment caused by the intentional or illegal operation of the supervisor shall be compensated according to the price.
- 2. The correct use of all kinds of experimental consumables shall not be abused and wasted. Due to the intentional or illegal operation of the supervisor, if the case is serious, the consumables shall be compensated according to the price..
- 3. Before the experiment, we must clarify the purpose and requirements of the experiment, master the basic principles, and be familiar with the operation methods and steps, and the performance, operation methods and precautions of the experimental equipment must be specified.
- 4. In the process of conducting the experiment, the teacher should obey the guidance of the teacher, and should not operate without permission.
Autoclaves
For the dry heating protection,we made sure that the water at the bottom of the autoclave is not less than the plate. We checked and made sure that the condensate volume on the lower left side of the outside of the autoclave was within the scale. The topmost item in the autoclave should not be on top of the rubber seal of the lid.
Toxic agents
When using toxic agents,we were asked to wear a mask and rubber gloves, for example, when using agents such as RIPA or PMSF.
Centrifuge
Before using the centrifuge, we must pay attention to the position and weight of the centrifuge tubes in the centrifuge to prevent damage to the machine.
Electrophoresis
Before performing the experiment of gel electrophoresis, we should pay attention to the positive and negative position of the electrophoresis instrument and connect the positive and negative terminals of the power supply correctly. The gel should be placed so that the side of the gel is close to the side of the electrophoresis tank to prevent the gel from moving. After switching on the power supply, observe if there are any bubbles coming out of the negative terminal, if there are bubbles coming out, the circuit is proved to be open.
