On July 25^th, we met with the dry lab members of team H-Metal Silence from Fujian through tencent meeting. H-Metal Silence is dedicated to finding ways to detect heavy metal contents in our daily lives fastly and cheaply through synthesis biology. We shared with each other our own projects and discuss on the topics of problems we had met and experience we had concluded.

In terms of problems, we were all troubled in the process of writing business plan and shooting promotion video. When writing business plan, we once got stuck in determining what is our products and how to price them. For them, they also were troubled in business plan, because they had different ideas inside the team and didn’t know how to achieve the agreement. To deal with these problems, we had a discussion and drew the solutions accordingly. For us, we decided to search for some relevant business plans for learn their methods as reference. For their issue, we adviced them to conduct a team voting it there is still no conclusion to prodeed the work.

At the same time, we went over each other's business plan but not limited to the company’s and the market’s forecast, means of sales, and customers. We also demonstrated our SWOT model analysis. H-Metal Silence said they could learn from our analysis, but also adviced that we should polish our products and price them reasonably.

In regard to the topic of shooting promotional videos, we both felt anxious and had not yet plotted a small film with intersting story. After ideas exchanges, we agreed that we still need to choose the form depending on which one could present our project vividly and explictly.

During the discussion, we also exchanged valuable experience. We each introduced our team and demonstrated our recent progress. H-Metal Silence was ahead of us in interviews and other activities. Especially, they had already hosted a street vending activity for funding and interviewed several experts in the field even though we also set them in our schedule in the following days. On the contrary, our team had focused more of our time and efforts on refining our paper work, such as business planning and summarized some wiki work.

In the end, we expressed that we were impreseed by their great job in work efficiency and understanding of the topic, but also reminded them to take some more time to solidify their business planning and other documents. We also learned many valuable experience from H-Metal Silence’s experiences in the interview and street vending activities.

No-HAS (Ø-HAS) is a team from Shanghai dedicated to decreasing or eliminating the presence of higher alcohols in fermented alcohol, reducing its harm to human health. On July 28th, we hosted an online meeting with No-HAS, which lasted almost an hour.

Both teams introduced the theme and team progress, and a considerable proportion of the discussion focused on fundraising and education. We explained how our fundraising was conducted, how we sold the products, and specific details in our education section. Then, we introduced our business plan.

According to theri sharing, we realized that No-HAS had just started their dry lab work recently, thus actually they hadn't yet drafted their business plan. Therefore, we decided to share our experience , like some problems we had faced in writing the business plan to give their thoughts on preparation for their own business plan.

In the end, we had a free discussion. We also asked for more explanation on No-HAS’s definition of product positioning, and we pointed out some potential contradictions in there.
