WLC-Milwaukee 2022 is filled with many hard-working, dedicated individuals! See below for our member's names and hover over their pictures to get to know them!

Dr. Werner has been the primary advisor for over the last ten years. He teaches a variety of courses including Microbiology, Genetics, and Molecular Biology and his research interests focus on molecular and microbiology. He is proud of the hard work and dedication that the WLC iGEM students show every year. It is his hope we can continue to participate in the competition for many years to come.

Isabel Waddell is a junior and a Biochemistry major and art minor. After graduating from WLC, she plans to get her master's in a biological science, then become a research technician at Versiti the Blood Research Institute. As president, she helped in most areas of the team. Her favorite hobbies are knitting and crocheting. Her favorite thing about iGEM is having the opportunity to solve problems creatively with biology.

Kaytlyn Hartfield is a junior at Wisconsin Lutheran College and a Pre-medicine and Biochemistry major. After her time at WLC, she plans to go on to medical school in hopes to become an OB GYN doctor. She enjoys the opportunities iGEM provides to collaborate with others to create a project that helps in the community. She contributed to Wiki writing and lab work.

Kaylee Cadeau is a sophomore at Wisconsin Lutheran College and is studying Sports and Exercise Science. After WLC, she plans to attain a Doctorate of Physical Therapy and become a Neuro specialist. She loves iGEM because it encourages exploring scientific techniques outside of the classroom. She contributed in writing the wiki, collaborations, and Human Practices.

Alyssa Keller is a junior biochemistry major and mathematics minor. She hopes to attend graduate school for cell and developmental biology. Enjoying both research sciences and social involvement, Alyssa has been grateful for the opportunities iGEM grants her to combine the two. Alyssa is the treasurer for the team and helped with human practices and writing/editing the wiki.

Rachel Dziekan is a junior and a biochemistry major attending Wisconsin Lutheran College. She plans on going to graduate school to get her doctorate in microbiology/immunology, cell and developmental biology, or biochemistry with the final goal of becoming a research scientist. Rachel loves teaching others about the wonders and fun of science. She is the collaborations lead of the iGEM Milwaukee team.

Logan Hennen is a freshman who is majoring in mathematics alongside a minor in Computer Science at Wisconsin Lutheran College. His plans for the future are uncertain at this point in time. Engineering or data science are two possible careers for him. He has enjoyed learning about the process and science behind this project since he is mainly contributing through the development and coding of the wiki page.

Amelia Neuwirth is a junior biology and neuroscience major and Spanish minor. She is planning to get her master’s in genetic counseling. She helped with the video, writing, and proofreading for the wiki. In her free time, Amelia volunteers as a crisis counselor. Her favorite thing about iGEM is working with people who are passionate about science to help the community.

She plans on going to graduate school for a masters or doctorate in microbiology/immunology or biochemistry and become a laboratory scientist. In her free time she enjoys reading, crocheting, and playing piano. She contributed to the experiment portion of the wiki.

Elizabeth Farley is a junior biochemistry major attending Wisconsin Lutheran College. In the future, she plans to attend graduate school in genetic counseling or public health. Some of her favorite hobbies are making jewelry and baking. In iGEM, she helped to write and proofread the wiki. Elizabeth’s favorite thing about iGEM is the opportunity to build skills in communicating scientific concepts to the general public.

Jenna Bishop is a senior at Wisconsin Lutheran college. She is studying Biochemistry and is planning on going onto medical school for a PhD in Biochemistry. She worked on wet lab, testing the samples, and measuring the absorbance of the samples. This would probably be her most favorite thing in iGEM. When she is not studying, she enjoys hanging out with friends, rocking out at karaoke night, reading, and painting a picture for a friend or family member.

Lydia Witthuhn is a freshman who is intending to major in Biology. Her plans for the future involve studying zoology and potentially working for the Milwaukee County Zoo. Lydia’s favorite animal is an axolotl. Lydia contributed to the iGEM team by writing for the wiki as well as proof reading. She loves iGEM because she is able to expand her knowledge of science alongside her peers.

Sky Pope is a junior at Wisconsin Lutheran College who is a Pre-medicine Biology major and plans to go to medical school in hopes to become a Pediatrician in the future. Sky is a caregiver and medpasser at her local assisted living facility.She enjoys the new scientific techniques iGEM presents that can help the community that we live in. She contributed to the proof-reading of the poster.

After WLC, she plans to obtain her masters in Biochemistry along with becoming a clinical laboratory scientist at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Sofia would love to use all of her experience and opportunities to keep learning and help her to be successful in her future endeavors.

Sam Johnson is a freshman at WLC. He is studying Neuroscience and after his time at WLC, plans on attending medical school in hopes to become a Dermatologist physician. Samuel is an Eagle Scout from his hometown in Morton, IL. He enjoys iGem as it provides a chance to do extracurricular experiments and research. He contributed to proofreading and lab work.

Sophia Kerkow is a sophomore at Wisconsin Lutheran College and is studying Biology. After WLC, she plans to attend medical school to get an M.D. and study general surgery. A fun fact about her is that she started playing violin as a 4-year-old. Sophia did the wet lab work for this project. She also helped with the wiki and the video.
