Diversity and Inclusion

Inclusivity Award

Our iGEM team has members from many cultures, which is why being inclusive is so important for us. Each one of us reached out for collaborations in one way or another with other countries.
We took part in translation collaborations with the aim of disseminating knowledge and iGEM projects through social media mainly. Translation bridges the gap between languages and cultures, thus generating inclusivity. This way we can reach a wider audience and at the same time enhance the visibility of the iGEM projects, possibly creating a social and political impact.

Knowledge should be universal. Therefore, we took part in educational demonstrations to introduce the students to synthetic biology and shed light on the interdisciplinarity of science. We visited an elementary school and held demonstrations and experiments for various high school teams from different social and economical backgrounds to promote science and education.

More about the translation collaborations can be found on our communication page here.
