Members
Natalie Papadimitriou:

Biochemistry and Biotechnology undergraduate student at University of Thessaly. Head of Graphic Design department and member of the Social Media team. She is the creator and designer of the educational board game “SynBioCraft”. She participated in Human Practices and in the building of the team's wiki page. She organized the creation of the team's promo video.

Katerina Patrinou:

Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics undergraduate student at University of Thessaly. Head of Human Practices department and member of the social media team. She organized and coordinated both the Public Engagement & Education activities and the Human Practices process. She was also part of the fundraising process and responsible for the Social Media management.

Elli Magkouta:

Biochemistry & Biotechnology undergraduate student at University of Thessaly and Leader of the team. She organized and coordinated all the team’s work throughout the whole project. She was responsible for the project development process, the financial management, the Human Practices and Public Engagement & Education activities and Social Media management.

Yannos Retalis:

Biochemistry & Biotechnology undergraduate student at University of Thessaly. As a member of the Wet Lab department, he took part in the project design, he developed the new riboswitches, designed all the primers used and conducted cloning and agroinfiltration experiments. He organized and ran the Interlab study experiments and authored the authored the "Synthetic regulatory circuits for plants" and "Golden Braid 2.0" Phototroph Handbook chapters. He took part in the Synbio Vocabulary, Pineios Festival and Career Fest ESC activities and interviewed several experts. He also took part in the first phase of Fundraising.

Theodoros Papanikolas:

Biochemistry & Biotechnology undergraduate student at University of Thessaly. Member of Wetlab department and Head of Fundraising. He actively contributed to the development of the project by taking part in the Wet Lab design and experimentation of our idea, as well as by helping with Fundraising activities, Integrated Human Practises interviews and Education/Public Communication Events.

Anastasios Platis:

Mechanical Engineering undergraduate student at University of Thessaly and member of the Dry Lab, Wiki and Human Practices departments. At Human Practices he played a key role in coordinating and communicating with the foreign teams as well as in creating and writing the code and the content of the crowdfunding pages and the Synbio Dictionary. He actively participated in Fundraising.

Christina Theofanopoulou:

Mechanical Engineering undergraduate student at University of Thessaly, head of the Dry Lab department. She supervised the organization and coordination of the engineering department and the construction of the platform prototype and the RC Boat. She actively participated in the actions of Human Practices and Fundraising.

Georgios Melachroinos:

Mechanical Engineering undergraduate student at University of Thessaly and member of the Dry Lab department. He supervised the design and processing of the mathematical model and the code used in the modeling. In addition, he undertook the mechanical study and design of the platform and the RC boat. He actively participated in Fundraising and actions of Human Practices.

Stefanos Digenis:

Electrical and Computer Engineering undergraduate student at University of Thessaly, head of Wiki department and member of the Dry Lab department. He played an important role in handling the modeling code and took charge of our team website as well as the wiki. He also undertook the programming of the electronic part of the hardware, actively participated in Fundraising and Human Practices actions.

Eleftheria Lakaki:

Graduate of Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at University of Thessaly. Head of the Wet Lab department. She took part in the project design and conducted cloning and agroinfiltration experiments. She actively participated in the design of the DNA parts for the GoldenBraid cloning method and was in charge of the experimental design. She arranged the laboratory’s procedural aspects and organized and took part in several experts’ interviews. She also participated in the SynBio Vocabulary, Carrier Fest and in the design of the educational board game “SynBioCraft”, and was part of the fundraising process.

Asteria Tsapadikou:

Biochemistry & Biotechnology undergraduate student at University of Thessaly and iGEM alumni. Asteria contributed to the general guidance of the project. She supervised the Wet Lab experimental design, the progress of financial issues, the Human Practices strategies, and she provided her mentorship on issues related to the implementation of our project in the real world.

Ιoanna Gkoni:

Biochemistry & Biotechnology undergraduate student at University of Thessaly and iGEM alumni. Ioanna provided general advice throughout the project and the fundraising procedure. Furthermore, she supervised the Wet Lab members, and she conducted a two-week hands-on lab training and multiple troubleshooting sessions, participating in weekly meetings with team members.

Konstantinos Elenis:

Biochemistry & Biotechnology undergraduate student at University of Thessaly and iGEM alumni. Konstantinos offered his help regarding the general coordination of team members. He mainly guided us on integration of Human Practices strategies into our project. His advice on science communication and outreach was decisive for the organization of our education and raising awareness activities.

Afrodite Katsaouni:

M.Sc. in Advanced Experimental and Computational Biosciences, Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of Thessaly. She provided her mentorship, as a past iGEM team member and advisor, regarding the general issues and coordination of the team members. Afrodite offered her advice to our Wet Lab, based on her laboratory experience. She also conducted a two-week lab training for Wet Lab members, and she provided day-to-day lab guidance.

Kalliampakou Aikaterini:

Professor of Synthetic Biology at the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of Thessaly. She provided mentoring in WetLab experimental design and troubleshooting regarding experiments.

Konstantinos Mathiopoulos:

Primary Principal Investigator, Professor of Molecular Biology at the Department of Biochemistry & Biotechnology of the University of Thessaly. He provided us with lab space as well as guidance in the financial issues and general support throughout the development of our project. He also contributed to our Education & Science Communication activities.

Antonios Giakountis:

Secondary Principal Investigator, Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology and Genomics at the Department of Biochemistry & Biotechnology of the University of Thessaly. He gave us advice about general iGEM topics as well as guidance in experimental processes throughout the development of our project.

Hatzigeorgiou Artemis:

Secondary Principal Investigator, Professor of Bioinformatics in the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics of the University of Thessaly. She provided us with general support during the iGEM season and offered her advice in modeling our biological system.

Plant Biotechnologist, Associate Professor at the University of Thessaly, Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology. She provided us with laboratory equipment and supplies every time we needed it.

Dimitriou Tilemachos:

Post Doctoral Researcher and Laboratory teaching staff at the Laboratory of Molecular Virology at the Department of Biochemistry & Biotechnology, University of Thessaly. He provided us with the necessary equipment to start our experiments.

Nick Delkis:

MSc in Advanced Experimental and Computational Biosciences, Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of Thessaly and member at iGEM Engineering Committee. Nick became part of our lab training, providing us tips during the cloning procedures as well as giving us access to a number of parts and plasmids that were needed for our experiments.

Eugenia Koukara:

PhD Candidate at University of Thessaly. She helped the Wet Lab members by providing answers to their questions.

Antonia Spanomitrou:

PhD Candidate at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Genomics at the Department of Biochemistry & Biotechnology, University of Thessaly. She helped us with our lab training and lent us duran bottles for our experiments.

Venetios Michelioudakis:

Stephan Geley:

Professor of Molecular Pathophysiology at Medical University Of Innsbruck. He distributed to us the pENTR-THT III plasmid, necessary for the creation of a tetO7 part required for our experiments.

Dietmar Funck:

Group Leader of the department that specializes in Mechanisms of Stress Tolerance in Plants, University of Konstanz. He distributed to us the pENTR-TOPO plasmid and he shared with us comments and important notices in our email correspondence.

Emeritus Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, National and Technical University of Athens. Dr Kolisis contributed to the creation of the Greek Dictionary of Synthetic Biology Terms by providing feedback in regards with the terms and terminology of the Dictionary. He was also a keynote speaker to the Webinar where we presented our Dictionary.

Eleutheria Nteliou:
