Entrepreneurship

The entire journey of the project comes down to just one thing, which is the “WIKI”, making it one of the most critical elements of the project. As fun as the name sounds, it's way too troublesome. Nights change into endless struggles to fix the pipeline, minor tweaking and troubleshooting.

This year’s wiki was made by keeping Search Engine Optimization (SEO) as our priority. Though the basic outline of each page was provided to us by the headquarters, the team sat down together to work on building the webpage such that it would be responsive and easy to read. Posters and Banners were made in such a way that they are soothing to the eyes. We referred to many wikis built by previous iGEM teams for inspiration to choose our themes, colour palettes, transitions, etc for our own wiki.

We sincerely thank the iGEM community for helping us with the primary pipeline and allowing us to cover the web development domain in this journey.

It would not be an overstatement to say building this wiki would have been impossible without Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) Tools and Free Online Tutorials. Innumerable youtube and blog tutorials helped us build integral parts of our page. Working on this project helped us realize that there is no shortage of learning resources for one trying to learn to code.

The backbone of our Wiki team is Selva Bharathi K, who was assisted by Sasi Mitra Behara. Their skills and willingness to help us put our content over the wiki and other necessary details made the wiki much more presentable. They even helped us proof-read the documents uploaded and verified the content at every step. We owe them a debt of gratitude for all the pain they took and still kept helping us with a smile on their faces :)
