Introduction
Collaborations during iGem

We collaborated with numerous iGEM teams throughout the year. We designed a start-up guide with iGEM Dresden which supports future iGEM teams which are interested in taking their project to an industrial scale. We met a student from the iGEM highschool-team Lethbridge and exchanged experiences and ideas. We furthermore translated an article for iGEM Chalmers-Gothenburg and iGEM UNILausanne for their blog and designed a page in iGEM USAFAs coloring book. Additionally, we took part in a survey of iGEM TU Delft and joined in the iGEM Münster JuniorJam and had the chance to present our project.

iGEM Dresden – Partnership
For more have a look at our mutual project

We collaborated throughout the year with iGEM Dresden. We focused on how to take our project on a larger scale and start-up creation. We discussed business strategies and became aware of all aspects that come with starting an own business. We organized a guided tour in the Life Science Factory and together we designed an universal start-up guide for life science projects.

iGEM Lethbridge
Collab across the atlantic

We welcomed Marie, a team member of iGEM Lethbridge in our lab. As iGEM Lethbridge is a highschool team, we were excited to exchange ideas and to have the chance to see the perspective of a school student-team member. We introduced her to the work with anaerobic organisms, how to operate the anaerobic tent and all the things that come with the anaerobic work. We demonstrated the huge differences between anaerobic and aerobic working and at the end of the day, after enjoyable and funny talks, we were truly impressed how experienced and professional school-students can lead their projects.

Translating team-work

We translated a blogpost about „Osteogenesis Imperfecta: the Incurable Disorder“ into german. With our contribution and with the support from other teams all over the world, we make this article accessible to as many people as possible and overcome the language barrier.

USAFA iGEM
Introducing the youngest

We were invited by the iGEM USAFA Team to share some information and illustrations about our project. They created a coloring book for young students. It focuses on problems that iGEM teams all over the world try to solve within synthetic biology. They turned our project into a nice story in their student-book and now children all over the world can paint our solution to fight climate change! (Image-source: iGem-Team USAFA)

JuniorJam sponsored by Promega in Münster
A first taste of the iGem-spirit

In August we were part of the JuniorJam organized by iGEM Team Münster. On site, 13 teams from seven European countries had the opportunity to present their projects in a video, presentation and a team booth session. iGEM experienced judges gave feedback to prepare us for the Giant Jamboree in Paris. It was nice to make many new acquaintances and to exchange information about different projects and their current status.

iGEM TU Delft
Sharing perspectives

We answered their survey about their detection method for the rape drug GHB. We were asked some general questions about our behavior while partying and which method we could imagine the best for their detection method. Their project has a great impact on the safety in bars and night clubs.
