Collaborations

Collaborations with other iGEM teams and industry.

iGEM team collaborations

The connections we build with the other teams can encourage us to stay in contact and reach out when we face challenges or when particularly exciting goals are achieved. Altogether the podcast helps to build connections between teams, labs, industries, and people.

We also collaborated with the iGEM team out of the Univeristy of Sydney (USYD). During this collaboration, we shared strains of Pseudomonas known to be BTEX degraders. This was in attempt to further broaden our understanding of microbial monoaromatic hydrocarbon degradation. USYD also shared vectors with us, which were used in our Rhodococcus transformation experiments, and were greatly appreciated!

We also were collaborating with the UT Austin iGEM team. We collaboraated over the mutual use of Acinetobacter ADP1.

Industry collaborations

Our team completed a podcast series that aimed to feature other iGEM teams and an industry sponsor, Samsara. The goal of this podcast series was to spread awareness about the goals and projects of the other teams and our sponsor. Many of the iGEM teams, labs, and industry partners are working on meaningful and exciting projects however, it can be difficult to learn about these or share them in a casual more conversational setting.

By creating the podcast series, we give these teams a chance to share what their projects mean to them and what some of the most exciting aspects of them are. The conversational setting also allows them to really connect with us and the audience which can help to build anticipation of final presentations at the Grand Jamboree.

We were also fortunate to be partnered with MPBio! Who were happy to sponsor our efforts in the iGEM competition.
