Destiny is a 2nd-year Biotechnology student who enjoys watching anime, gaming and gym-ing in her free time. She is part of the wet lab and human practices team for UNSW iGEM 2022. Her motives behind joining iGEM were to gain experience in a lab setting while working in a larger team. She also wanted to meet different people from different degrees and gain experience that would be helpful to her in the future.
An interesting fact about Destiny is that she has a little sister who is 16 years younger than her!
Divyangi is a 3rd-year Biotechnology student and is the team leader for education and communication and is also on the wet lab team for UNSW iGEM 2022. She joined iGEM this year to gain practical experience in the wet lab component as well as the opportunity to network and learn from individuals within the science cohort at UNSW and around the world. In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching movies and annoying her dog.
An interesting fact about Divyangi is that she passed out when she got her nose pierced for the first time.
Eloise is a 3rd-year Advanced Science student who is a main team leader as well as being co-leader for wet lab and being part of the wiki and human practices teams. She joined iGEM because she thought iGEM would provide her with the opportunity to expand her wet lab and scientific communication skills. If she’s not reading, she can be found at a bookstore in her free time.
An interesting fact about Eloise is that both her and her brother broke their right arms at the same time and couldn't go to Six Flags on their family trip to the US.
Ezekiel is a 3rd-year Biotechnology student and is one of the main team leaders as well as being the human practices team leader and wet lab team co-leader. He joined iGEM this year because it seems like a great way to collaborate with individuals across different research fields and with other institutions to help solve real-world problems. In his free time, he enjoys people-watching, going out and frequently buying iced lattes (with a shot of hazelnut syrup obviously)
An interesting fact about Ezekiel is that instead of being forced to follow the traditional route of a lawyer or doctor, as a child his parents forced him to be a professional Spanish Flamenco dancer.
Jasmin is a 3rd-year Bioinformatics Engineering and Food Science student who is part of the wiki design team in UNSW iGEM 2022. She joined the team because she wanted to learn about synthetic biology whilst gaining experience in graphics and web design and development. In her free time she enjoys paper quilling, making cards and trying new places to eat.
Keshiga is a 3rd-year Bachelor of Science (Computer Science/ Bioinformatics) student. She is part of the Wiki Design team for UNSW iGEM 2022. In her free time, she enjoys going on walks (even in the rain!), eating (always), reading novels and watching dramas. She was excited to join iGEM to gain more experience in scientific computing for research and meet more of the wonderful biology cohort.
An interesting or rather sad fact about Keshiga is that she is sadly 1cm too short to be an astronaut.
Kimaya is a 3rd-year Medical Science student who is part of the education and and communication as well as wet lab teams for UNSW iGEM 2022. In their free time, they enjoy reading, hiking and birdwatching, and visiting museums. They joined iGEM this year since they were intrigued by last year's projects and thought it would be nice to contribute their ideas and learn a lot about synthetic biology as well.
An interesting fact about Kimaya is that they are currently listening to a great podcast called ‘Ologies’ and learning lots!
Mark is a 3rd-year Bioinformatics Engineering and Science student majoring in genetics. He is part of the dry lab and Wiki Design team in UNSW iGEM 2022 to further develop his research, software and design skills. In their free time, Mark enjoys reading about problems, solving problems or planning to solve problems. He joined the iGEM team this year to apply his bioinformatics skills to solve biological problems.
A fun fact about Mark is that he has shot an F-88 Austeyr and wanted to be an intelligence officer before choosing to study bioinformatics.
Max is a 2nd-year Advanced Science student majoring in mathematics. He is one of the main team leaders and also leads the dry lab team apart from being part of the human practices team for UNSW iGEM 2022. In his free time, he enjoys playing trading card games, Heroes of Might and Magic, or Minecraft. He joined iGEM this year to work on a project where he can practice and learn skills from leadership and and communication to BLAST searching.
An interesting fact about Max is that he went to the world scout jamboree in 2019 and he wonders if he will meet anyone also in scouting.
Roger is a 3rd-year Advanced Science student and is part of the grants ANS sponsorships, human practices and wet lab teams in UNSW iGEM 2022. He joined because it seemed like a great opportunity to step into the real world of research as well as giving him an opportunity to design something of his very own and help the community. He enjoys baking in his free time since he gets to eat afterwards and uses that extra energy to go to the gym. He also enjoys just chilling and watching shows. The most recent show he finished is the Kenobi series.
An interesting fact about Roger is that he tries the cheesecake of every bakery he goes to.
Ryan is a 4th-year Advanced Science/ Commerce student. He is part of the wet lab and wiki teams in UNSW iGEM 2022. In his free time, he enjoys exploring Sydney and beyond. He loves nature and going on hikes. He is also an avid cyclist, passionate about fixing and riding bikes. He joined iGEM this year because he is super passionate about all things molecular biology. Joining this year’s iGEM team is a great opportunity for him to put a creative twist over conventional molecular biology learnings and create solutions to real world problems.
An interesting fact about Ryan is that he fractured his left wrist while going 5km/h!
Taimoor is a 2nd-year Advanced Science and Arts student. He is the Wiki Design lead and part of education and communication for UNSW iGEM 2022. He joined iGEM to get some hands-on experience with research and development. He sees it as a great opportunity to further his skills in science communication as well. In his free time, he enjoys gaming, drawing and going out.
An interesting fact about Taimoor is that he lived in Zambia for two years.
Vandana is a 3rd-year Bioinformatics Engineering student who is part of the dry lab and Wiki Design teams in UNSW iGEM 2022. She joined the team because she wanted to be part of building a synthetic biology solution. In her free time she enjoys knitting and crocheting, listening to true-crime podcasts and reading true-crime novels.
A fun fact about Vandana is that she has perfect pitch!
Yola is a 3rd-year Biotechnology student and is part of the wet lab as well as education and communication teams in UNSW iGEM 2022. She joined iGEM as it is a worldwide competition and will give her a chance to learn more academic knowledge about synthetic biology and know what their peers are doing. In her free time, she enjoys aerobics and also loves to hang out with her friends.
