COLLABORATIONS

Overview

Centered on the project of NAU-CHINA team 2022, NAU-CHINA has maintained close online exchanges with many iGEM teams, including NNU-China. HBUT-China, and NJU-CHINA. In addition to frequently meeting with other teams, we hosted the ICII (Into China into iGEM) event, which was established last year. Online communication did not weaken our intimacy as we used all our resources to cooperate well.

ICII

In May, 2022, we held series of ICII activities online after careful planing and preparing. According to the design scheme, we focused on popular science and publicity activities. Co-sponsored by the Nanjing Agricultural University Student Science and Technology Association and co-hosted by BIT-China and ZJU-China, we invited 12 participating teams from different provinces in China.

This series of activities was a good opportunity for teams in China to communicate, and to promote the knowledge of synthetic biology as well as the team's annual project to the public.

Conference of China iGEMer Community

CCiC is a spontaneous iGEM community in China. The 9th CCiC in 2022 was held by Shanghai_Tech University on August 18-22. NAU-CHINA has been actively engaged in the activity with other iGEM teams. Although we could only communicate online due to the epidemic prevention policy, we were learning with an open mind during the preparations for the competition this year.

During this conference, we presented the general contents of our project, feasible solutions in models, and our posters. We also received questions and suggestions on our project design from experts in different fields and other outstanding teams. We explained these simply and applied them to solve the current problems.

The NIA

In June this year, we participated in the NIA (Nanjing iGEM Association) organized by NJU-China. At this conference, six teams in Nanjing introduced their project respectively. This association also became a bridge for teams in Nanjing to communicate and cooperate. Through project introduction in this seminar, we further learned about the project design plans of more teams and provided a general idea for the meetup with more teams in the future.

Thanks to the brief introduction to our project on the official account of the NIA operated by NJU-China, a wider range of friends came to understand our project.

With HBUT-China

At the beginning of July, we received an invitation from HBUT-China to participate in an online seminar. Although we were far apart, our communication and cooperation had been strengthened through this seminar. We briefly introduced our project and its prospect, and the framework of our activities in summer.

HBUT-China explained in detail the devices they wanted to make in their project. Our team raised questions about these devices on enforcing security for HBUT-China. As far as gene circuits were concerned, HBUT-China asked us some questions and gave some suggestions. The mutual exchanges of ideas advanced our projects respectively.

Education Meetup

During the summer, we participated in a small offline seminar in Nanjing organized by NNU-China and NJTech_China. Fortunately, in this offline meetup, we could communicate with many excellent teams. NNU-China and we shared a focus on human practice in education. From their presentations, we learned about different forms of education and publicity in human practice, and used them innovatively and flexibly in the promotion of our project.
