Project Design
From previous research in ecological policies, Youran Zhao proposed working to tackle the local and global problem of Harmful Algal Blooms. Qinyi Wang then consulted researchers at Southeast University, School of Public Health, on the potential health effects of algae toxins. Meanwhile, the team launched investigation on the public awareness of algae pollution. Qinyi Wang and Youran Zhao finalized the project design of ‘Microcystin Terminator’.

We were luckily paired with our mentor, Yanfeng, by iGEM mentorship program. He helped our novice teammates navigate the exciting (and overwhelming sometimes) season, and provided valuable feedback on experiment design, wiki structure, and presentation logics.
