Team Attributions

The KCIS iGem team was fortunate enough to be provided with an opportunity
to compete alongside many other innovative teams.
The experiences and lessons we gained from this opportunity were truly unforgettable,
so our team is thankful from the bottom of our hearts.
We are also grateful for all the advice and support given to us by a variety of different groups throughout this journey,
and we will do our best to acknowledge their contributions on this webpage,
as well as give an overview of the responsibilities of our team members

Experts

  • Dr. Fang-Jen Lee from College of Medicine, NTU supplied us with several plasmids for years and also helped our lab set up an account at the human disease modeling center in the NTU for us to get yeast knockout gene mutant strains.

  • Dr. Chen Shao-Kuan from Institute of Neuroscience, NCCU, collaborated with us so team members can go to his lab for summer and winter break internship. He also provided us with advice regarding the metabolism due to his familiarity with metabolism as he is working on the same gene in cancer cells as our project is.

  • Dr. Pei-Wen Chu , Principal Research Scientist from Chimera Bioscience Inc., guided us with improvements about cloning sequencing and experimental designs.

  • Dr. Tien Hsien, Chang from Genomics Research Center, Academia Sinica and Dr. Yi-Chun Wu Lab from the National Taiwan University supplied us with plasmids in bacteria and also yeast for the project alongside several suggestions regarding the materials in the experiment.

  • Dr. Hsiao-Fen Han, Ph.D, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, provided constructive feedback about plasmids and enzymes in our experimental designs.

  • Wiki Support

  • Ms. Lali Curry was our Wiki Page Consultant, helping students to understand the coding and uploading of the Wiki Page.

  • Advisors

  • Tarn Parker was the primary Principal Investigator of our team. She was in charge of the entire team throughout the competition. As a position of authority, she planned out our project schedule as well as the wiki page designing schedule and running meetings with the team, and between the team and various instructors.

  • HuiChing Kuo was the instructor. She was responsible for giving lectures about the basics of synthetic biology followed by the process of many different synthetic biology protocols. She also created the backbones of multiple protocols such as the overexpression of genes and making yeasts then guided us through the process.

  • Wan-Syuan Lin was the secondary Principal Investigator. As an assistant to the members and project, she purchased lab materials, and dealt with the school affairs. She made sure the completion of the course and supplies were as smooth as possible.

  • Chloe Sheu's previous experience on an iGEM team was invaluable to helping us. She provided key support in making connections with other teams for the collaborations that we formed, as well as helping us to maintain focus on the key requirements of the project.

  • Sabrina Yeo, a Taiwan iGEM ambassador, provided us with valuable advice and direction in navigating the project for the first time.
