We would like to thank everyone that made this iGEM project possible. This page is dedicated to thanking them and it outlines the work done by our team, the help of our mentors, supervisors and our consults.

Supervisors

Orly Weinberg

SynBioApps and iGEM Program Manager

Orly Weinberg provided essential administrative and financial support. She also helped us in writing our grants and promotional content.

Dr. Elena Kuzmin

Principal Investigator (PI) and Assistant Professor at Concordia

Dr. Kuzmin provided us with lab space and gave us feedback on the project through the competition, from the ideation stage to the presentation stage.

Consults

Dr. Simon Barnabe

Chemistry, biochemistry and physics professor in the university of Trois-Rivière

Dr. Barnabé’s expertise in wastewater treatment plans and his research in the use of algae/microorganism in WWT helped us refocus the implementation of our project. He gave us essential insight into what designs would be more appropriate for a WWT.

Dr. Brandiff Caron

formerly Assistant Professor in the Department for Engineering in Society at Concordia University

Currently Lecturer AY, Interdisciplinary Studies in the Liberal Arts, California Polytechnic State University

Designed originally for his engineering students and adapted later by iGEM, Dr. Brandiff Caron introduced us to the RTTA (Real Time Technology Assessment) Tool, which allows us to avoid mistakes before they’re made. Through a series of questions, it allows us to focus on the social, ethical, legal and environmental aspects of our project design and its implementation into the real world.

Pamela Champagne

Ideation stage and Team organization

Pamela supervised us in the lab, specifically helping us with new techniques.

Dr Villemur

Professor at INRS in the Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnology Research Center

Dr. Villemur highlighted challenges such as government regulations and the stigma behind GMOs. He suggested we look into industrial wastewater plant applications versus agricultural implementation. He also advised against the use of two different plasmids.

Abdalhadi Abdaddayam

Animation and Design Student

While making our promotional video, we sought his help to make animations for our video.
