This year, among the 22 parts designed, 13 of them are basic parts and 9 are composite parts. Some of them are tested to ensure their reliability. You can click on the part number to learn more about the parts to see its specific function.
Among the 13 basic parts we designed this year, BBa_K4194019 is our favorite one. This gene encodes a long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase (CoA ligase). We tried to use an enzyme system containing CoA ligase to synthesize PHFA (polyhydroxyfatty acid, a biocompatible polymer material). FadD has excellent performance. In addition, many other basic parts were designed to construct our project.

Among our nine composite parts, three are gene oscillators, and the other six are transcription units that make up gene oscillators. Our favorite composite part is BBa_K4194012, a gene oscillator whose feedback loop consists of the pF promoter (activated by the δ activator) and the Tet gene expression regulation system. We tried to use gene oscillators to make the two groups of genes expressed alternately periodically to avoid the occurrence of a large number of enzymes with conflicting functions in the cells at the same time, so as to reduce the occurrence of side reactions.
