Collaborations

New technologies have made easier the collaboration across borders between scientists. For the iGEM competition collaboration is key as it helps to achieve goals that wouldn’t be completed alone. Even thought COVID-19 has made physical interactions and collaborations harder, we’ve still managed to collaborate with 5 different teams worldwide.

Montpellier

The iGEM : iGEM Aix-Marseille x Montpellier
Team Location : Marseille, France
Contact Information : equipe.igem.amu@gmail.com
Description : As we all know, iGEM is not only about our respective projects but also about engaging with the public about synthetic biology. In order to do so, The iGEM Aix-Marseille and Montpellier teams had an idea to promote projects imagined worldwide on various synthetic biology topics by using quiz cards. We made this quiz in a trivia card format with a homogenous design depending on the theme (medical, ecology, security), including five questions and a “Did you know?” about each team’s project to promote their hard work to the largest audience possible. As for now, we had four teams from France who answered our call: GO Paris-Saclay, Evry_Paris-Saclay, Montpellier, of course, and Sorbonne_U_Paris.

We imagined and prepared 30 questions, 7 “Did you know” and a few “True or false,” in the hope more teams would want to join this collective Trivia quiz and add on their new projects. It’s indeed a project we wish to see growing each and every year with more and more knowledge. They will be able to send their questions and answers so we can use our pre-made card and add them to the free PDF. This document will be printable for everyone who wants to have a nerdy sleepover with friends or just those who wish to challenge themselves.

Patras

Team Location : Patras, Greece
Contact Information : igempatrasmed@gmail.com
Description : On Monday the 25th of April, on world DNA day, we collaborated with the Patras medicine team on Instagram. They wanted to create a DNA graphic and use as bases images from iGEMers from all over the world, each one holding the correspondent base. The iGEM Aix-Marseille team collaborated by sending one of our members holding the base.

CU Egypt

Team Location : Cairo, Egypt
Contact Information : pharaohscu2022@gmail.com
Description : The Pharaohs Egypt team works, this year, on Alzheimer's. They wrote a small book about someone whose parent suffers from Alzheimer's and decides to keep a diary in to keep a trace of his memories. They wrote said book in order to spread awareness of the disease. We ended up contributing to this book by translating it into french.

Navarra BG

Team Location : Navarra, Spain
Contact Information : navarrabiogalaxy.stem@gmail.com
Description : The Navarra BG iGEM team works on creating proteic compounds in a cheap way by building a plasmid using synthetic biology to modify Nicotiana Benthamian plants. To show our unity worldwide, the Navarra BG iGEM team wanted to receive a drawing of Nicotiana Benthamiana, the plant they work with, from all around the world. Their goal is to create a collage with all the plants they’ve received.

Lyon

Team Location : Lyon, France
Contact Information : igem.insalyon2022@gmail.com
Description : We collaborated with the iGEM Lyon team because we were having difficulties ordering gBlocks from IDT. They helped us by ordering our gBlocks and sending them to us.
