XHD-Wuhan-Pro-China & XHD-Wuhan-China
Experiment and Project Design

In June, we spoke with the lecturer and made contact with another high school IGEM team. We are on the same track as XHD-Wuhan-China and we have similar ideas about our project. We formed an alliance of high schools to promote further cooperation. We hold online meetings twice a month. We discussed issues in various areas in close cooperation throughout the iGEM season.

The Experiment Content

Our team cooperated and communicated with XHD-Wuhan-China team in some experiments, and we also established our own WeChat group for experimental cooperation. Through our cooperation, we can make design improvements based on each other's designs and suggestions, thus making our projects develop better.

The Experiment Design

We went to BGI to talk about our project, and the researchers there suggested that E. coli has a compact, less permeable membrane that limits the transfer of electrons from the cell to the electrode, and that we could increase the permeability of the cell membrane of E. coli by adding porin-related genes. Therefore, we jointly reviewed the literature and, after discussion, selected oprF porin gene to increase the cell membrane permeability of E. coli.

Mathematical Model Design Collaboration

During the analysis of the experimental results, our team discussed the mathematical and modularity aspects of the design with the main team of XHD-Wuhan-Pro. We learned the design of the mathematical model together and finally completed the mathematical model.
