My name is Srika Popuri and I am currently a junior at RBHS. I started iGEM this year because after taking AP Bio, I realized my love for this subject and the biotechnology labs just made me discover my passion for research. iGEM allows my team and I to get involved with high level research from a young age, and provided me with the experience that I desired. Outside of iGEM, I love to play tennis, guitar, and I surf occasionally.
My name is Riya Athalye and I am currently a junior at RBHS. I took AP Biology in tenth grade and was immediately hooked; I got to study cellular pathways, evolution and other concepts to a depth I had never thought of reaching. Even as I was completing the course, I knew I wanted to explore further, and the iGEM initiative seemed like the perfect opportunity as I explored my interests and options for my future. Other activities I enjoy include reading, writing, and Mock Trial.
My name is Sarika Patil and I am currently a junior in highschool. After taking AP Biology sophomore year, I developed a keen interest in the subjects of synthetic biology and biotechnology, which is why I decided to join iGEM. I really wanted to be able to apply everything I had learned to a deeper level to enhance my understanding. Some other activities I thoroughly enjoy are dance, art, and robotics!
My name is Ila Gowda and I’m currently a junior at RBHS! After participating in FLL competitions at a young age, which consisted of a smaller research project portion, I was interested in doing this at a higher level when I got to highschool. iGEM was the perfect opportunity for me to do so! Finally, I love to play tennis and enjoy baking and robotics, in my free time!
Hi! My name is Keerthi Ponnapureddy and I’m currently a junior at RBHS. I joined IGEM because I’m interested in biology, and I found IGEM as an interesting opportunity to develop new skills and help me figure out my future path. My favorite part about IGEM was when we created models of the proteins we found or all the moments where it felt like we made a major step in our project. My other hobbies include baking, drawing, and playing badminton.
My name is Joyce Kwack, and I’m currently a sophomore. I decided to join iGEM because it sounded like a good way to get ahead in the fields that I wanted to study later in life. It was also a way to work with people who had similar interests as I did, which is probably one of my favorite parts of iGEM. Other hobbies I have are playing the violin and reading.
My name is Meghna Rath, I'm a current junior at RBHS. I joined iGEM as a continuation of biotechnology which I was first introduced to in AP Biology. I was interested in getting to know more about synthetic biology and online modeling. IGEM was a great way to get some experience in research and to expand my knowledge and expertises. Outside of iGEM, I'm part of RBHS's Robotics team, I do competitive dance, and teach young kids how to code in python.
I’m Chris Kuffner, the iGEM mentor for team RBHS. I aim to share my past experiences in iGEM and research to assist the team as they venture into their first year of iGEM and learn to model biological systems. I care about accessibility in synthetic biology and am currently pursuing my PHD in biomedical engineering at Boston University.
