Inclusivity

Introduction

In order to be more inclusive, our team worked on collaborations, which would promote accessibility to Synthetic Biology and knowledge of a larger crowd and a wide spectrum of people. We tried creating content for every age, background and nationality. Some of these projects are:

Accessibility Collaboration

In this collaboration, eight iGEM teams created short videos answering our proposed questions about the competition and synthetic biology, in their native language. The final result, uploaded on our YouTube channel, can be accessed by anyone who is interested and, most importantly, we hope it can reach a wider audience, as they are available in many languages and with the corresponding English subtitles.

You can find the video series here!

Comic Book

We realized that in order to reach a younger audience, we had to adapt to their interests. To achieve that, we created a comic book narrating the story of school students who discover synthetic biology for the first time and translated it to other languages, with the help of other iGEM teams.

Podcasts

On our Spotify channel, we have posted a few podcasts about a variety of synthetic biology topics. We chose this form of communication in order to reach the visually impaired.
