“If you want to go fast - go alone, if you want to go far - go together”. Our team firmly believes that cooperation and collaborations of students and researchers all around the world is crucial for developing a sustainable and inclusive society, since working together with other teams promotes reciprocal exchange of information, helps generate new ideas, provides useful feedback and all kinds of support. This year, we expanded our professional and social networks by collaborating with different teams from all around the world. We welcomed to the iGEM family a newly formed Latvian team, guiding them through their first iGem journey, thus launching our mentorship program. We participated in the first ever Baltic Jamboree, where we met in person and collaborated with Latvian and Lithuanian teams. We pitched our project idea during this and multiple other MeetUps and received useful feedback that helped refine our project. However, collaboration is not only about science and research. The creation of strong social bonds is as essential and important as research collaborations to achieve success. Therefore, together with other iGem teams we created coloring comics books for children, created a board game character (spoiler: it's our SpaceYeast), and took a 7-hour team building hike in Lithuanian forests together with other two baltic teams. We made new friends and had a lot of fun! Overall, our team is deeply integrated into the iGEM community and is very happy to be a part of this vast network of talented people from all around the world united by one shared goal to make the world a better place!
